Re: Fw-190 to be raised from the Sea

Thanks Planebeach that's awesome! I wonder how many more of these treasures are sitting in the bottom of some lake or ocean

Well Norway is actually full of these planes, just a few weeks ago there was a Ju-52 found. Only video and pictures of it released, location is so far secret. I know of 5 10 others that are laying around.

The best place is actually Kjevik Airbase, here the allies put 35-50 planes in a pit and a lot of spare parts. Including engines still inn their boxes and a lot of other things. Some of the planes are Ju-88, Ju-188, Ju-288, He 111, Bf 109 (10+), Fw-190 (10+) and a Gladiator and Spitfire . Before they buried the planes they trow some handgranedes in the pit. There is a group that have been given permission to excavate, but thats almost 10 years ago. Hopefully they will soon look into the pit. There are some worries about the condition of the planes, but now one know for sure. I had a few pictures 15 years ago, but I lost them

Re: Fw-190 to be raised from the Sea

Just found some more info on the crash, the fishermen that rescued the pilot was offered a reward (this was common, due to lack of pilots), but they turned it down and managed to negotiate a deal to get a other fisherman that was arrested some weeks before for using a illegal radio.

Re: Fw-190 to be raised from the Sea

I noticed that a Stuka has been raised from seabed off the coast of Greece. Its in one the aeroplane mags. Flypast or Aeroplane ,I cant remember . I have not had time to read them yet. Maybe in the next life there will be more hours in a day because there certainly are not enough in this one!!

God Bless America.
