Re: Dogfights on the History Channel

Surprised there aren't any ETO theme shows on the docket...

Good, its about time the Marine and Navy flyboys in the Pacific got some love.

I hear ya, can't wait for the Guadalcanal segment with Jim Swett's story! He signed the wing on the Carousel F4F Wilcat for me a couple weeks ago.

Re: Dogfights on the History Channel

I really enjoyed "Mig Alley" last night. I can't believe he spent all that time PUSHING his wingman's plane out of anemy airspace to have him die in the freak ditching accident! I kept waiting for some kind of "gotcha!" - but it never came. Kinda brought tears to my eyes thinking about it - going thru all that and then drowning 'cuz the parachute cords got tangled around your neck . .. .

Yeah - I thought that story was amazing. Did you catch the details in that "ditching" story. The helicopter tried to push the pilot toward the shore with the wash of its blades. Then a little later they said the pilots parachute straps were wrapped around his neck and he drowned. Is it possible that this manuever by the helocopter rescue team is what caused the parachute straps to get tangled around the ditching pilots neck?

That story was tragic. Risner "pushing" that F-86 with the nose of his plane was just an incredible story - It was amazing to see it represented graphically.

I thought that was pretty amazing myself - and what amazed me even more is the fact that I never even heard this story before...I wouldn't have even thought such a feat possible...Risner must have had some huge ones.

After hearing that story, I'd REALLY like to see Corgi do Risner's F-86. Besides. it did have some pretty unique art on it as well (Osprey - Korean War Aces plate 18???)

I remember reading this story somewhere...I forget which book. I am glad that it was one of the ones they did. Looking forward to next week, and the week after, etc.

I hear that. I would love to see his F-86 done. An amazing story.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Dogfights on the History Channel

On the website, it said you could send in recommendations for future shows. We could put together a list and e-mail it to them.

Any suggestions for famous dogfights?

I'd like to see Chuck Yeager or Urban Drew knocking down an Me-262!

Or some Pacific Theater P-38's in action.
