roundels

I was looking at my models and I was thinking of roundels and insignias:
Can any one explain to me what this symbol means? a red vertical rectangle followed by a thin white line and a blue vertical rectangle.

Also, some airplane have a big blue roundel with a smaller red roundel in its center.

Or a thin yellow circle around a blue roundel with a red roundel in the middle.

Can anyione tell me what these insgnias mean?

thanks.

Re: roundels

Some pictures may help to explain what you're looking for fileasfog.

The vertical symbol could be the R.A.F tail marking, while the blue with red could be upper wing roundel, if the one with with the thin yellow circle has a white segment that could be the fuselage roundel???
