books

General message for serious historians and or students of history. I posted earlier about some books I found in an old factory office. I have been trying to take some photos of the pictures in these books to put onto the Hanger. This got me thinking, It seems such a waste of superb historical information to leave these books on my shelves.I cannot speak highly enough of the content of these volumes. There are over 800 photos to view in each volume. The first volume would interest anyone with Polish ancestors because it features many photos and info about the German invasion of Poland including superb pictures of Polish military and civilian life of 1939. Some wonderfull shots of cavalry. This first volume is full of info on all the combatants in 1939 on land sea and air. For AFV and artillary buffs this volume will keep you busy for days. Anyway back to the point, If any of you would like to see them I am prepared to post the first volume to you for your study, with the condition attached that after you have gleaned as much info as you want that you pass it on to another member of the Hanger, and that the next member does the same. Ultimately it will find its way back to me. So what do you think? if anyone is interested then PM me. Just a little more info, the battle of the river Plate is covered in full detail including photos of Graff and her Captain.100 or so photos of ships of the british fleet.Photos in close up all the soldiers of every nation involved at that time so great for studying uniforms.Detailed info on the Magino and Siegfried lines. Also the book gives a fascinating insight to the mind set of the time. So chaps its over to you now.

God Bless America.

Re: books

I will try , I have problems with the glossy pages spoiling the images. However I will get there in the end. If I could stop this silly computor changing the JPG into bitmaps I might even be able to post them!!! As you can tell I am new to this computor stuff and it drives me crazy at times. Its a pity someone hasnt made a mechanical computor. Now that I could fix.

Jim, that's a kind offer - sharing the books around to gain knowledge.

Re; reproducing the images - watch out on the copyright issues - the thought police could get on your case & ya' don't want that.

Some guy on an (excellent) English aviation forum that I regularly participate in got a written/verbal warning E-mail (on copyright issues) & had to retract his posts on the forum some time back (last eighteen months).

Watch your tail/check your 'six' O'clock B.4 posting !
