Signed Models

I was just wondering how many of you guys like to try and get veterans to sign models of their aircraft. I know that the diehard keep it orignal guys might not like that, but I do it whenever possible. I don't plan on selling any of my collection so I figure that I should display them as I like them. I always thought that having one signed is like having a mini memorial to those guys. I was just wondering your thoughts. I have a signed Corgi PBJ, GMP P-51 Glamorous Glenn-Yeager, GMP P-51 Old Crow-Anderson--Thanks again Starman, FM Old Crow-Anderson, FM Boyington F4U-3 VMF-214 vets, and a few more.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Signed Models

I wouldn't have the pilot sign the actual plane, but maybe the certificate that comes with the plane.. Just my personal preference, but if I am flying it round the room, I'd rather not have a big signature on it..

Re: Signed Models

I have no signed aircraft, but I would if I could. For you folks that do, is it easy to sign a 1:72, or does it need to be a larger scale?

Re: Signed Models

I guess it just depends on what it is. A B-17 would be easy, but a P-40 might be tough.

Re: Signed Models

I also got a corgi 1/144 memphis belle signed by Robert Morgan. All of mine I obtain in person and I guess it depends on who is signing . I know Tibbets did not like signing the 1/144 B-29. All of the Dollittle Raiders who great signing my 1/72 B-25.

Re: Signed Models

I don't look to have my models signed but I do like to collect signatures of the pilots on other items - generally photographs and artwork.

To each his own, though. I don't have a problem with signed diecast I just like my signatures on items that are easier for me to protect. I think a 1/35 aircraft with a signature looks pretty cool, though.
