Effects of 'Flags of Our Fathers' on the Diecast Market

Looking forward to seeing this movie. I'm sure many of you probably already went and saw it tonight (reviews?). Recall that the buzz over 'Saving Private Ryan' back in 1997-8 helped kickoff this whole craze with toys and video games like the Medal of Honor franchise and its copycats, etc. One wonders what effect 'Flags of Our Fathers' will have to add even more new energy?

Re: Effects of 'Flags of Our Fathers' on the Diecast Market

I'd say it would have a great effect towards increasing someones interest, but they would have to be aware of diecast first. I can see that we'll have to purchase some of those cheesy slide show ads that play on the movie screen before the lights go down.

By the way, did you guys now that there is sister movie to this one that is supposed to come out next year? It's called "Letters from Iwo Jima". This maybe common knowledge, but I only heard about it today.

Sounds like it could be a good one.

Yes, I read about that in the local newspaper yesterday. It will be from the Japanese perspective apparently.

It'll be a stellar DVD offering when both films & all the extras are offered in a set. The second (Japanese) film isn't due until next year, however.Maybe this can be the Christmas 2007 giveaway!

Re: Effects of 'Flags of Our Fathers' on the Diecast Market

I've read a few reviews on other forums and it's more of a drama about the guys that raised the flag and what happened to them after the war. So if you're expecting an action flick like SPR you'll be disappointed. Personally I'll wait until I can rent it cheap on dvd, and I don't think it will make much of an impact on the diecast scene.

Oh, You just lost me. I don't give a s!@t about their point of view. I don't mean for that to sound worse than it does, but it is true. That would be like hearing the German's side of the holocaust.
