Re: Churchill Quote

Oooh let me play!
My faves are:
  • When you have to kill a man, it costs nothing to be polite.
  • If Hitler invaded hell I would make at least a favorable reference to the devil in the House of Commons.
  • I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly.

Hello, I'm the guy who sits next to you and reads the newspaper over your shoulder.
Wait -
Don't turn the page, I'm not finished.
Life is so uncertain.

Oh, maybe it went like this: "A lie gets halfway around the world before the skunk gets his scent on."

Re: Churchill Quote

In my opinion, Churchill can justifiably be regarded as being one of the greatest leaders of 'modern' times.

Although somewhat eccentric he was also a gifted orator, painter and extremely innovative person who knew how to get himself into all types of trouble . He was also quite a maverick in his younger days and knew how to upset his 'superiors' by virtue of his disregard for authority.

A good book on some of his exploits in the Anglo-Boer War (South Africa) was written by his Granddaughter (Celia Sandys) and is titled Churchill: wanted dead or alive.

One sheep to rule them all ...

This is my fav quote:

Lady Astor: "Winston, if I were your wife I'd put poison in your coffee."
Winston: "Nancy, if I were your husband I'd drink it."

Re: Churchill Quote

I like it.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Churchill Quote

For you teachers and wordsmiths out there:

"From now on, ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put."

And, for our resident characters:

"Never hold discussions with the monkey when the organ grinder is in the room."
