Re: Gemini Aces Phantoms

`

The second release is a Model Zone commission, GARAF4002, a FGR2 - XV497. Based on the RAF 23 Squadron, 1435 Flight aircraft as based at RAF Mount Pleasant from 1988-1991. Now at RAF Waddington as the gate guardian.

`

Well; PLENTY of 'griping' going-on over at the D.A.F. (as usual ), though INITIALLY it seems justified...........

They ARE supposed to be NOT the Final (production) offering, so I'm reserving judgement (though I'm pessimistic, sadly)

Here's hoping THAT overly-large canopy gets SORTED (PLEASE !)

I'm attaching a picture of the ACTUAL aircraft itself...(the Grey FGR.2 (XV.497)

I took the picture on 5th July this year (2008)

Re: Gemini Aces Phantoms

Thanks Hornchurch, agree - the canopy looks like its been modified to fit Mr Blobby - its too big

Do you have any other pictures - the one with the 'arse end' is nice but i'd love to see the whole bird...

I really hope to see a grey / green version soon.. some nice RAF schemes to chose from

Take it out and play with it

Re: Gemini Aces Phantoms

There's something up with those engines. Never realy noticed them stand out like that. Also should an RN bird have the fin RWR? Yes I know this is a pre-pro, but the've had long enough to get it right before publishing any shots.

Was realy looking forward to this bird. If that's the end result I'll not be getting it.

Re: Gemini Aces Phantoms

I'm going to give Gemini the benefit of the doubt, and get one of these when they come out - its not until I actually see the real model myself that I can make any judgement.

Re: Gemini Aces Phantoms

Thanks found after I'd posted that these had been fitted from 76 on, so the RN would have got it before the birds passed to the RAF.

Found this site that has some gret back-end shots of the engines. Hope these are fixed before we see the real thing, as they are one of the most distinctive parts of the UK birds. Getting these wrong will be a deal breaker for me.

Re: Gemini Aces Phantoms

The Modezone GA Phantom has been released and pictures are on the DAF, it's not getting good reviews.

At first glance, the model looks a bit off: the nose seems too short, and there seem to be gaps at the wing roots and at the break in the wings. It doesn't seem to match HM's quality. Hope the model "in hand" looks better.
