Cool Re: Buerling or Plagis Spitfire?

My vote would go to the Plagis Spit for no other reason than the visual impact of the invasion stripes.

Overall though my favourite GA Spit is GARAF1007, Spirit of Kent. Only 805 made, nice history & the usual GA attention to detail.

Take it out and play with it

Re: Buerling or Plagis Spitfire?

I have them all. The Plagis and Beurling Spitfires are great. I prefer the Beurling simply because I am a Canadian. I take great pride in that a Canadian became the "Falcon of Malta". I know that he scored almost all of his kills in a Spitfire VB (which Corgi was good enough to release). I do like to have his last combat aircraft in my collection, though.

"Spirit of Kent" is my personal favourite.

Smile Re: Buerling or Plagis Spitfire?

I have the Plagis and Kent ones amongst others not Buerling. Buerling is not limited if that matters to you.

Plagis or Kent because they both have the rear view mirror while the others do not.

Exclamation Re: Buerling or Plagis Spitfire?

For the record, it's Beurling - George "Screwball" Beurling.

Also know as "The Falcon of Malta".

Re: Buerling or Plagis Spitfire?

GUYS:

Thanks very much for the info. I'm leaning very heavily towards the Plagis because of the D-Day stripes, although the Beurling's canopy mirror looks cool.
Also, thanks for the Trciatus link---I've used Tricatus many times for Corgi, but I didn't know it included Gemini, Century Wings, etc.

I was looking at 21st Century's 1/32 plastic Spitfire, but it's an early version, hard to find and has quality control problems---there are a few who have found it at Wal-Mart for $15.

Re: Buerling or Plagis Spitfire?

dragon 53 I can't vouch for the Plagis although all the other members who have her think she is a great model but I have the Beurling & Spirit of Kent spits and they are terrific so I would say you can't go wrong but being a Canuck can I persuade you into getting the Buzz Beurling spit?

Well don't just stand there........GET ONE UP!!!

?? I have the Plagis Spit, too but there is no rear view mirror?! And the Beurling Spit doesnīt seem to have one, too?! However, the Plagis Spit of course looks a bit nicer due to the invasion stripes... but the Beurling Spit seems to be a little more accurate. Reason: just look at the inner paint of the landing gear. The Plagis Spitīs inner landing gear is painted white (fascilitation of the manufaction process probably, also due to invasion stripes, but of course wrong) while it is correct on the Beurling Spit. Didnīt want to delete this mistake since the Plagis Spit has an LE certificate.

Interesting, just checked my collection and out of the 5 Plagis Spits I have, 3 have the rear view and 2 do not, and of the 4 Beurling Spits, 2 do and 2 do not. All three of my Kent Spits have it, and none of my Johnnie Johnson Spits have it.
