Stepping into a potential vacuum

With Corgi's price rises, this may be a great time for GA to step into the fray. While HM is producing great products with great choices at great prices, GA could contribute even more new and exciting models. The AD is a start, but there are many other possibilities, such as the A-20, B-36 (in 1/144), a good 1/72 Sabre (with an honest Sabre nose), MiG-3 and/or LaGG-5, and a whole host of other models. Obviously, getting into the fray would mean ramping up research and development, and fairly heavy development costs, but with moderate pricing, GA may now have an opening to become an affordable supplier of excellent models.

Re: Stepping into a potential vacuum

One would certainly think that Gemini could make hay while Corgi sputters. Unfortunately, Gemini seems to share the same production problems---witness the delays in turning out several "special editions" from existing molds for two British vendors. Also, they are saying even less than Corgi about when they will bring anything new to the marketplace. Since the Chinese factories decide whether or not to fulfill production run obligations, not Corgi, Gemini, etc, until the issue of manufacturing control is resolved, nobody except HM and CW can get a leg up on a competitor.

Yes, Gemini could start with the 1/72nd Spitfire I they promised ages ago. That would make Corgi's obsolete immediately!

I would say that wouldn't stop Corgi from making them, but since they modded the mold for the Mk.V it's a moot point.

I miss having a new round of Geminis out every couple months, hopefully they start up again in the near future.

I don't like reggae. I love it.
