Re: Received new Gemini Aces!

Here is the ones you asked for. These fit the warbirds perfect.
The Mustangs problem is the air scoop under the wing the stand fits but not nice and snug like the other two.
So i used a different stand for it.I have no regrets at all... these are very nice for a 1:72 scale fighters.Very solid diecast and not clunky. For the first time them doing Warbirds there not that bad and hey.....I own a P-51B in a diecast
JP

Thanks again JP, I appreciate it Mine won't be in until Fri or Mon, but it looks like they are very good models.....not perfect.....but very good.

Make sure that you keep your eye out for a small black screw when removing the items from the container. It's easily discarded if you aren't aware that it's in there.

Cool Re: Received new Gemini Aces!

Question I have on the 109 canopy. Should it still have the middle bars on it? I thought that they didn't get rid of these till the late model G's[/quote]

No, no middle bars on the canopy. Just the separation between the two lateral plexiglas sheets. It looks correct to me.

However, aren't the pilots slightly over scaled ?

Re: Received new Gemini Aces!

I have all 3 planes on preorder with Martin, but after visiting with my friends at Onmark and seeing these personally, I had to pick up an extra Spitfire (just in case)..

I won't go into a long, lengthy review since I only have a Spitfire, but I will give my pros/cons and you can decide for yourself..

Pros:
The Spit looks dimensionally correct (visual inspection) w/moving ailerons and rudder.. It has nice panel lines (not too deep or too shallow) and excellent paint overall.. The small details, (cannons, landing gear, etc) look better and more detailed than any on the market today.. The Antenna, which has been a subject of speculation, In person, looks good and doesn't detract from the model at all.. The landing gear comes in two assemblies for "gear down" and "up", with the assemblies well engineered and they look like they would hold up under pressure.. The 4-bladed prop looks good and spins freely..
The fact that this is a "numbered certificate" release is always a BIG plus in my book..

Cons:
I couldn't find much I didn't like about the Spit, but I did find a couple of things that could be improved in later releases..
The pilot looks a "little" overscale and he has the control stick right in front of his face.. The box is "Corgi-like" which is a Love-Hate relationship that many of us have, but the main concern I have is with the felt material they coated the plastic base in.. It is a nice touch, but if anyone has ever had long-term experience with these, you'll know that the felt gets old and has a tendancy to rub off on everything, including the model..
The other thing I will mention is that Gemini really should consider bagging the small pieces like the stand screw and tailwheel because I can see these easily getting lost over time..

Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with the Spitfire and I would highly recommend it to anyone who asks.. I can easily give this a 9 out of 10 points, which is awesome for a "1st release"..

Now I can't wait to see what Gemini will do next...

This is arguably the best Spitfire available.

There is a great amount of detail on the wings and control surfaces.

Re: Received new Gemini Aces!

One thing I like about all "3" planes, is the props on mine are all nice and firm against the nose of the plane compared to some of the other brands I have bought.

Re: Received new Gemini Aces!

According to Lev on the UK forrum the pilot and antenna have been noted and improved for the 3rd batch.

I love these models even more today than yeterday. Esp the Spit. Vast improvement on the hound's ones I have.
