Re: Me 109, Johnson Spit & P-51 in stock

I can't wait to get my P-51B! Ummm - what's with the telephone pole behind the cockpit? Or is it a periscope that had the lens knocked off?

Other details look great, so like hworth18, I'm going to reserve judgement until it shows up.

Re: Me 109, Johnson Spit & P-51 in stock

Just got a shipping confirmation from The Flying Mule - the first three GeminiAces are on their way .

Me too. This is going to be interesting (I almost wrote "fun", but maybe that should come after we've actually balanced the little dears in our sweaty palms)...I'm sure we'll all be bouncing opions off one another next week!

Which will it be, oh, which will it be?

I must be really lucky: I have a Shangri-La P-51B from FABBRI. It's not 1:72, but it is bigger than a Model Power. I've had it for two years, from UK eBay. Lucky.

Now I await my Gemini.

Re: Me 109, Johnson Spit & P-51 in stock

I received my two GJ Warbirds from the 'Mule today - first impressions are that they are very good. Considering they are the very first ones released they certainly match Corgi in quality and finish. Crisp detail, great finish and a nice 'weight' to them. They also complement the Corgi models very nicely. Mine worked out at about £20 each which is good value IMHO.

I just hope Gemini Jets can produce some more new types but the P-51B is a great looking model as well. It is a pity they didn't produce a Spitfire Mk XIV in stead of the Mk IX........

What with Hobby Master picking up the gauntlet as well as Witty, I think we are now entering a real 'golden age' for collectors. Some great new models being produced and it is refreshing to see the new manufacturers keeping the costs down.

Here are some pictures of the GJ model along with my favourite Corgi and Witty Me-109's.

Re: Me 109, Johnson Spit & P-51 in stock

I unpacked the Mustang tonight and took some quick shots. Again, I was very impressed with the overall model. A great tooling, nice paint job and an new mark of Mustang!! I like the option of two types of drop tank and the moving control surfaces are good, not too much of a gimmick. Next to a Corgi Mustang, the Gemini Jets more than holds it's own and to be honest, there isn't to much between them in terms of level of detail. The aerial seems to be the only 'issue'.

Thought there has been a load of 'hype' about these GJ models, I wasn't expecting them to be generations ahead of Witty, Corgi or Dragon. I think they complement the Corgi range superbly and as they are a 'first attempt' I know we have much more to look forward to. The next releases are really tempting, with the Galland Me-109 and the RAF Mustang. Also, the cost is now a big factor - Corgi, think on.....

I have added the best Corgi Mustang into the pictures as a comparison - 'Twilight Tear'. Seeing this fabulous machine flying was a real treat on Sunday at Duxford. Gemini, please release 'Princess Elizabeth' A.S.A.P!!!
