Re: Captured P-51B is answer to kaput

This page from IPMS Stockholm explains a modeler's findings on this exact aircraft, T9+CK. He chose the later, bare metal scheme. He also states the top color was OD, originally.

Another page from ARC gives a little more detail about the exact colors of T9+CK. (I'm desperately trying to find a source that discusses a dark gray topside)

Small assortment of captured P-51 schemes, including T9+CK.

Still no page I've been able to find that includes Luftwaffe pilots' opinions...

I've spent my money on strippers, diecast airplanes and camera gear. The rest, I've wasted.

While the bare metal would be a welcome addition to my shelves, that white/yellow scheme would hit the spot, too.

A superb piece of die cast IMHO. Presentation & packaging and attention to detail is second to none. I thought that I'd enough P-51s until I got this one as an afterthought. Up to now Berlin Express was my favourite Gemini but this one is giving it a good run for it's money!! Recommended

I also have no interest in captured warbirds. Also, as far as WW 2 aircraft, I realize many countries flew aircraft from other countries such as P-51's with British markings or Spitfires with Ameican markings, but I have no interest in them either. To me, they just do not look right.

The P-51 was designed and built on a British Purchasing Commission order and saw first service wearing roundels. Thus, one could argue it just doesn't look right wearing stars and bars!
