Re: Captured P-51B is answer to kaput

I picked up my Captured P-51 today from Big Guns Collectibles and WOW! It is super nice and pictures don't do this little gem any justice unless it is your hands. I recommend it! Better get one soon as there is only a 750 production run. Mine is number #487 out of 750.

Re: Captured P-51B is answer to kaput

I picked up mine the day it arrived at Spring Crossing on Houston's north side. AAMOF, he unboxed it and called my attention to it as he did so. I'd selected another from his stock, but put it back when I saw this one. Like others, I had little interest in it until I saw it up close.

Neat pictures of this one. It is a colorful model.

Re: Captured P-51B is answer to kaput

I have wormed up to this release a bit, still not enough to call one my own just yet.

I still find it ironic they display the plane wearing Olive Drab on the box art and then present the model its self in the questionable grey camo. Considering all of the controversy over what the actual top side color was; the misleading box art imagery really makes you question how indecisive were they when choosing a final color scheme.

Re: Captured P-51B is answer to kaput

I hope there are still some of these available come July when I'll have the funds to get one. All of the positive reviews of this bird make me wonder why the dealer I had preordered mine from say it had quality issues.

I am thinking that given how popular this release appears, we may see the natural metal version of this bird someday. THAT would be sharp!

Re: Captured P-51B is answer to kaput

Wow, mine got here today along with my HM Mirage Paris Air Show, both of these are so good looking.

I was a little hesitant at 1st on the GJ since the price was so high, but then I found one on Ebay for $39.50 Buy it Now which is not too bad really by todays standards and man o man does this thing look good. Plus the shipping on both models was only $9.00, to a business address, so I had em sent to work and saved the extra money on shipping.

That would be the version I would be interested in.

I recently caught an episode of Dogfight, featuring the Tuskeegee Airmen. One interviewee discussed forming up with another 'Stang after an engagement only to realize it was Luftwaffe. The bird they showed in the recreation was a bare-metal. He went on to talk briefly about how the Luftwaffe sent up their captured P-51s to infiltrate bomber formations with the maximum element of surprise. This was a shock to me, as I assumed they were used for training.
