Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

Two Points:

1. Remember that larger shipments with larger declared values do attract the attention of customs. I would suggest that you keep this in mind when doing your final calculations.

2. With reference to the previous point, it's possible that if the bulk shipment was sent to the US, that Canadian Participants could get hit twice with customs. (once for the shipment into the US, then again for the individual unit to get into Canada. My favourite is how they charge GST, then a handling fee on top that, based on the value of the parcel.

Not trying to discourage anyone from doing a large shipment, just two points to keep in mind. Might not be much of a savings if you were to get hit twice.

Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

If you want to get the package in a reasonable amount of time and in one piece, go with the shipping Flying Tigers recommends. My 'Princess Elizabeth' arrived in good order, nicely wrapped in bubble wrap and snug inside a slightly larger shipping box. Unless you want to go slow boat, literally, and are willing to wait a few months there really isn't much choice. Overseas shipping is expensive.

Since this seems to be the first issue of a series, I think I'll wait. The Marseille I want is Bf-109F Werk-Nr. 8673 with the number 100 wreathed under crossed swords and victory bars on the rudder for a total scoreboard of 150+. I have Gemini's Eduard Neumann Bf-109F-2 Trop and it is very nicely done with the intake dust filter, and I expect this new Flying Tiger commission will be superb.

Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

I pre-ordered mine yesterday. I hate paying the postage, but I can't pass on a beautiful 109 like this. Like someone said earlier, since I don't do this often, I can afford to do it once in a blue moon.

Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

I thought long and hard on this one, but in the end I ordered it. $70 for a 109 sure is expensive, but with all the care and attention that Lev puts into these releases it's worth it. PE and the CHC 109 that Lev had a hand in were great and I'm sure this will be no exception.

I haven't ordered the other UK Gemini commissions due to the price, and I probably won't.

I think bulk shipping here would be really more hassle than it's worth. The only way I think that us US/CA collectors could get a break is if Lev does a joint commission with a North American distributor, who both have a partial allocation. That way a portion could be shipped here straight from China, thus cutting down on the shipping costs for all concerned. Lot of potential issues due to exchange rate inequalities and allocations but I'm sure there is nothing that is unresolvable.

Ooops!

Like we'd be paying $30 instead of £30. That would be nice!

Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

I finally went ahead and pre-ordered it before they were all spoken for.

With a smaller production run than the Princess 'Liz, I figured there wouldn't be many extras left by August...

I can't wait to find out if they're going to release another of Marseille's 109Fs later this year. Also can't wait to see what the new packaging looks like... maybe there'll be bonus materials inside? Like a little handbook about 109Fs or info about Marseille?

US$71.80 as I post. I'd started the checkout process until I plugged the cost into a currency conversion site. Same deal with the Jumblies-commissioned 'Stang. I want 'em both, but can't justify the cost.

Maybe I need to ditch one of my other expensive vices hobbies?

Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

I actually sold a couple of my older planes in order to help finance the newer ones that I want more! I hope this doesn't bite me later? I think the prices have dropped some compared to a couple of years ago when I could've gotten more for them but Oh Well!!! This way I can make room for those Superb Gemini birds!

I've just done something similar BB, sold off a few double ups & extras that I could not justify keeping. With so many new and exciting releases on the horizon it is not just a matter of $$ but the space to store / display as well.

Still not convinced that i'll spring for one of these 109's though, but I do have the Jumblies P-51B on pre-order.

But i'm bound to weaken sonner rather than later.. & order one

Take it out and play with it
