Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

It varies slightly from day to day but the current figure is $26.45, approximately.

Thats even better. Have to see what I have on pre order already. Might just give some serious thought to putting in order for this one.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Well, I have this one and the F-4 on pre-order, so I think I maxed out my overseas shipping allowance, unless something else comes up that I can't live with out.

Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

Hmm...$150 for this and the Phantom shipped. Decisions, decisions. The only thing that bothers me about the Phantom is that I haven't seen a pre-pro for ANY Gemini F-4s. Kind of makes you wonder if this was put on the back-burner? Unless I'm missing something.

At today's exchange rate it would be 71.96 total, of course my CC company is gonna want a few $$ for currency conversion as well. Oh well, it's ordered.

Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

Our models are sent recorded Air Mail and as this will be an extremely rare and sought after model, I am sure you will agree that this method protects us all! With over 200 of these models ordered in the first 2 days, I am sure that there will not be many left, should posted models go astray!

Leviathan, thank you for the explanation. Yes, you do a great job with the special commissions and shipping.

Just for the sake of discussion, if a large order were placed and shipped together in bulk (say 10, 20 or 30 models, assuming that could be done), would there be reduction in shipping cost per plane, and, if so, any idea what it might be?

Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

The problem is OC, say one of us took on the task of getting 20 of these. The shipping from England is really only a small part of the problem. It's the X-rate that is the killer. Plus, say I get 20 shipped to MI for only £7 shipping per instead of £15. I still would have to ship them out to all of you and that would add about £4. Seems like a lot of work but it would save £4. If the bulk shipping per item could be £4 then we might save as much as half, possibly.

There is also the issue of the limit per customer, which Lev might overlook in this case. Or several cases of Messerschmitts as the case may be.

Ah heck, to save $15 it might be worth it.

Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

Hi Old Crow,

Thank you for asking the question.

This is a difficult one. Our bulk carriers do afford us a healthy 60% discount on carriage charges to the USA and Canada, but they still get you in other ways! On bigger parcels, we are charged the greater of the actual weight of the parcel, or the volumetric size! This is explained by the carriers as being the actual physical space taken up in the aircraft hold by the parcel! As the size of the new boxes and the weight of the Marseille commission are currently unknown, it is difficult to accurately calculate this now, but I am sure it does offer the opportunity for some shipping savings on a bulk order!

We will do whatever we can to support the US and Canadian collector!

Best wishes

Hey, if there's a way to bring the total cost down from approx. $70 to approx. $55, count me in.

Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

Hopefully they have plans to do a couple of these.

According to last week’s Flying Tigers Newsletter they are planning a second release later this year. Yellow 14 (GALFTJG27A) will be part of a Flying Tigers Marseille Collection and GALFTJG27B will be a later model flown by the “Star of Afrika.

I agree that this model will be hard to pass on.

I would be in as well, as it's only about $5.00 more than the GA captured Mustang is going to run me.
