Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

Unless these are going to be available stateside, I can't justify getting this one from the UK (even though I'd really like one). If you want it, it'll run you $67.93 in the US dollars.

Ditto -- what a bummer. Ya wanna know how fast the dollar is falling? I just checked, and at current exchange rates now it'll run ya $70.67.

Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

Stwhite, another way to look at it: Since the dollar is "worthless," why would you mind getting rid of more of them to get something that is NOT worthless to you?

LOL...good point. Well the problem is if my supply of dollars INCREASED at the rate the dollar is falling I'd be happy I think I'm gonna change currency to barrels of oil. 1 Barrel of oil for a lancaster sounds like a good deal to me Don't even get me started on Gold!!!

Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

Sorry to ask such a stupid question but what makes this model so special? I have a Gemini Aces Bf-109F in the desert tan scheme. It's a nice model and I really like it but not enough to pay $60.00 plus for another model similarly painted no matter who flew it. So why is this particular version so valuable? I'm really curious!

It's just the pilot HotTrap. But what a pilot and story it is!

Tis as I thought. Thanks parsig. I knew Marseille was a great pilot and ace with an incredible record and story. Luckily I don't collect planes based on pilots so I won't feel bad about letting you more dedicated collectors take mine. Enjoy guys!

Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

I'm hearin' ya ZS!! The thing that bugs me about Flying Tigers is their postage rates - this model is being produced in slightly higher numbers than Jumblies "Snoots" P-51 which is £5 less to buy and their postage to me here in NZ is £7 with only a £5 deposit. Flying Tigers want it all up front & will charge me £15 for postage

As much as I want this one I think i'll pass.

Are your sure 11SQNLDR? When I checked it was £20 for postage to NZ.

Yep - positive. I just put in Canada & US also - the £15 is standard international for one model $ £25.50 for 2.

Try Jumblies calculator - £7 for one model (eg Spit, 109, Hurri, Hawk, Lysander) & two for £11.50 to NZ!! Those postage rates give me confidence, the ones on Flying Tigers do not which is a shame.

Take it out and play with it

I took the following from the Flying Tigers website:

Importantly, we do not request payment for any item until it is IN STOCK and ready to ship. Back ordered and Pre-Ordered items are treated in exactly the same way!. You may send us your nominated payment information at the time of ordering, by e-mail, telephone or fax.

They don't request a 'Non-refundable Non-Transferable' deposit of £5 GBP either which Jumbies do.

Re: New Flying Tigers Marseille "Yellow 14" Commission

I wonder if this isn't a piggy back sort of model. After all, it is the 50 Kill tail not 100 or, if there is one, 150+ tail.

I bet we see the F-4 from the Spring of '42 or even a pseudo copy of the Armour one from September.

I've also just checked and you're right 11SQNLDR, the Airmail postage rate to NZ has been reduced from £20 to £15 . At least Flying Tigers are willing to listen and are trying to make things a little easier for us international buyers and we do also get the VAT reduction after all . (We also need to consider that some considerable work was most likely put in to bring us this special commission.)

I'll definitely be ordering one and Charley is also correct in his observation that pre-orders are not charged until the time of shipping .

(BTW, I agree with you that Jumblies have excellent postage rates from the UK and their models are well packed.)
