Re: Gemini Aces Bf 109 out of scale antenna

You're welcome JP . (Although the sprue technique works well, I lack the patience and it also has nowhere near the strength of the .3mm Beading Wire .)

Stretched sprue does hold up well though. I have a Ju 88 that I made back in 1996 and has survived three moves and it still has the antenna wire intact (Of course part of that might have been pure luck). I like it best because it can be put on with a slight bit of slack and when a little heat is applied it taughtens up.

Re: Gemini Aces Bf 109 out of scale antenna

Cheers for that info. Do you know when the Spitfire's stopped using this type of wire, and should they also feature on the Gemini Spits or Mustangs?

As far as the Spitfire goes, it looks like the Spitfire Mk.I, Mk. Ib, Mk II, Mk.IIb, Mk V, Mk Va and early Mk VII b had the wire aerials. Looks like MK. VIII and later were without this feature. Fun thing about them is that it is a two wire affair to attach (Really just single wire from that goes through the top part of the mast to the fuselage). First part of wire antenna from rudder to the mast with a second section extending down to the fuselage. It definitely would make for a neat project.
