WW2 fighters frozen now?

WIth the wait on the A-1 and F4, has Gemini put the brakes on other Mustangs, Spitfires and 109s?

Re: WW2 fighters frozen now?

This was posted a while back. I imagine it still applies.

Just picked this up from the UK forum

"Following various conference calls with the USA and Far East it is clear the projects for the new Phantom and the Sky Raider are not proceeding to plan. As a result we have re scheduled the first releases of these two models to February 2008. Please let your forum members know that this is now the new date.

No new releases are planned until these two projects are back on track.
"

Um yea we were talking about the WW2 Big Three, that confirms the other post. I'm still wondering if we'll see anymore P-51B/C Mustangs

Re: WW2 fighters frozen now?

Nothing new until the Phantom and A-1. That goes for everything Gemini Aces.

Re: WW2 fighters frozen now?

Are they putting all thier eggs in these two (A-1 / F4) baskets? I have no interest in a British Phantom unless the scheme is really cool, and that Skyraider they showed with the prego belly isn't gettin' it either. If they blow the first couple of A-1 releases with that sonar / rador A-1 I give up. Hopefully thier civi line up can save the Mustangs, Spits, and the 109s.

I think you missed the point. I think they are just 'pausing' on the ww2 fighters. I'm sure they will resume after the A-1 and F-4 are out

Re: WW2 fighters frozen now?

It is strange how GA turns out scads of 1/400 and 1/250 scale models, but has limited themselves so much with the larger Aces models. I may be the difference in scale that makes introducing new molds so difficult, or maybe they have found profits more difficult to come by with the larger models. I also have all versions of the three current molds (except one which is being held up because I ordered it with the first (which comes second) Witty Fw 190), but would like to see them get a little more adventuresome!

I think what it comes down to is how much resources GA as a company can allocate to projects other than their normal civvie aircraft. I think this is why there is the stop on the WW2 aircraft until the A-1 and F-4 are out the door.

Andrew, I agree, but do wonder why GA got into 1/72 when they weren't willing to get in with both feet. It could be that they found the overhead a bit more than expected...
