Re: More Pre-production Skyraider pictures

Just so we're clear, I've found a profile of the RAF Skyraider, and a photo showing the differences between the A-1 and the AD-4W (highlighting parts used to convert the one airframe into the other):

You're killin' me here. I'll wait for Sandy and pass on the Soggy. It looks like it wants to mate with a bullfrog.

I've spent my money on strippers, diecast airplanes and camera gear. The rest, I've wasted.

Re: More Pre-production Skyraider pictures

Not exactly what comes to the imagination when I think of the Skyraider.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Not at the top of my list...not even close. Hopefully, it will do well in the UK.

I might actually get it. The paint scheme with "invasion stripes" looks like it belongs to the time of Suez Crisis. I don't mind complimenting my Avenger and Corsair from the same conflict.

Sergey

Re: More Pre-production Skyraider pictures

Hey folks from the U.S.,

I am quite sympathizing what You´re feeling about this "messed up" A-1. I think wanting a German MiG-29 and getting a Venezoelanian F-16 and an Uzbek Su-27 instead comes quite close to that.

Re: More Pre-production Skyraider pictures

It never ceases to amaze me how manufacturers will forego the obvious, popular and bound to sell great schemes and initially go for the esoteric or one-off specials or unpopular versions that sell poorly (and reduce the potential success of the mold). I also don't buy the argument that they don't release the super popular schemes first so they don't oversell early and then lose sales on later models. Just do the popular stuff (even if they look alilke) and give the customers what they want - if you give me what I want, I will buy it! Take a lesson from CW (still not perfect) and Corgi with the Lanc.

Just my humble opinion...

HM is ramping down the MiG-21 and we have yet to see real great Warsaw Pac or Arab/Israeli conflict releases. Dragon's great P-51 and P-47 mold have never lived up to their potential with available shemes and they are about done. Corgi has no idea what they are doing with the P-38 or the Typhoon. GA has great molds in the Spit, Bf-109 and P-51 and are slowing down before some great schemes have been done (or are being released by UK retailers at $65-70 US). These guys really need to do some marketing research - makes me really appreciate HM's efforts with collectors.
