Stands

I now have eleven Gemini models in my hanger; the Plagis Spit, Berlin Express and Ferocious Frankie, being the latest additions. I think Gemini produces some of the best die cast aircraft on the market today, right up there with CW, HM and the pooch. However, and maybe I'm alone here, I think their stands stink. The pegs are too short and the diameter of the hole is too large to snugly mount the bird. Frankie took a little nose dive because of the poor design; fortunately, the spinner was easily remounted. This is too bad since it makes an otherwise first-class die cast look shoddy and not well thought out. Anyone out there have a contact with Gemini? A little direct input is definitely in order.

Re: Stands

I only have two, the Johnnie Johnson Spit, and a Bf 109, and they both stay on their stands just fine! Perhaps I was lucky?

Re: Stands

I've had these on their stands since they were first released and so far no one has crashed and burned (inc the P51). The only accidents have been self inflicted.

Ooops!

Re: Stands

The Gemini stands are the same ones they sell for their 1/400 airliners. I'm sure that the cost savings of using a common stand was the reason they went with them. I can say the ones I have on stands have never had a problem but I also agree that the link between the model and the stand could be improved.

Re: Stands

So far, I have just one GA. Assembling the stand, I could not get the teeny tiny screw to thread properly into the vertical section of the stand after repeated attempts. (Normally I'm good at handling fiddly bits.) In any case, when I put my Plagis Spit on the partially assembled stand it didn't seem to have a broad enough base to trust my Spit to it. So Plagis is on the ground, on alert standby in his plane. Other than the stand, it's a great model...

Re: Stands

Try a slightly larger self tapping screw. I'm about to do It.

Yes, that's an excellent suggestion. Let us know how it went? Thanks.

Re: Stands

On my Spitfire & 109's they stay on just fine no problems...The early P-51's is the one i had a little problem with so i just used my Corgi stand for it.
The latest P-51 it went on fine nice and tight fit.
