Re: Stands

I only have two Geminis the BBMF spit and Hun Hunter but they seem fine on their stands the ones I trust the least are the ones holding up my two Sea Furys from Witty you just look at them the wrong way and they shake may have to set them down on the tarmack

Re: Stands

I have one on the stand, if you look sideways at it the bugger wobbles. Others are safely on the ground.

Re: Stands

I have several Gemini's and the stands all have issues. On all of them I had to use a file to remove excess paint and to center the screw holes. After all that, the screws still didn't fit right. Needless to say, most are "ground-pounders."

I got fed up with the problem of screwing the stand together, so I took a stand with me to a local hardware store to see if I could find a slightly longer machine bolt. A very friendly young man took the stand, disappeared into the aisles and came back with a bolt of same thread count and diameter, but slightly longer than the one supplied by Gemini. It stiffens the vertical support and solves that part of the problem. Now if I can only figure out an equally simple solution for firmly fixing the model to the post.

Re: Stands

I think the stands are all the same, post-wise, it's the models that have holes of varying sizes. And "thickness of paint" affects the hole as well. Some are so tight they only go in half-way, some are so loose you can have a new wind vane.

Re: Stands

I currently have 6 aces on display and they are all on stands. The only problem I have had is with the P-51B's on Bald Eagle the hole was to small on the model for the post, needed a very firm push to get it to sit. On the Hun Hunter the hole is to big, the model sits fine on it but you can spin it about very easily. Other than that I find there stand very good. At least there not plastic, the few Witty's I own are all on wheels and I'm nervous about the few Dragon's and HM's I own that wobble about on their stands when some one touches the shelf.
