comparison of corgi's & aces 109's

I dont have either of these, but would like to have some opinions as to which mold is better. I cant afford the earlier corgi's 109 as the prices are way too high, but the newer ones seem reasonable.

any inputs would be appreciated
thanks

Re: comparison of corgi's & aces 109's

There really isn't much of a comparision between the two since they are different versions of the 109 (Corgi is an E and Gemini is an F).. I am very happy with both versions made by Gemini and Corgi even though Corgis mold is getting dated..

How about overall fit/finish? I noticed that since you can display the corgi's 109 engines, there is a slight gap in the nose. I reckon, you cant do the same with the aces version?

I think Gemini Aces is arguably considered the best of the aircraft that they have produced so far (Mustang, Spitfire, and Bf-109) regardless of specific versions.

Re: comparison of corgi's & aces 109's

I think Corgi is way over priced on most of their products and I'd consider them sub standard compared to other brands. The Price of their P-38's and the standard of their P-51s are what comes to mind whenever I think of Corgi. atleast Gemini is value for money in terms of price and quality

Gemini are the only manufacturer that have produced a 1/72nd 109F model, and IMHO this is the best of the bunch so far for quality versus price. Can't wait for the Assi Hahn model!

Re: comparison of corgi's & aces 109's

I like Corgi's newest Galland 109. As Hworth said Corgi's mold is showing it's age,in it's time it was the bomb. The GA's 109 is really good if not superior. I am not crazy about the moving rudder and associated gap though and GA needs to use thicker paint. Corgi paints better I think. I would always choose a GA over Corgi to sum it up.

Agreed, the moving surfaces make it a little toylike IMHO, but still the best out there by far at the present.

Re: comparison of corgi's & aces 109's

Bearing in mind that the Corgi ME109E mould is nearly eight years old the last release of Galland's E model is worth getting IMHO. The Gemini ME109Fs are super models and great value. Get some of the later ones with the normal sized pilots!
