Re: Hans Hahn Bf-109F is out..

I'm a fan of Gemini but one thing's been irking me a bit and you knowledgable 109 experts out there can tell me if I'm all wet or not... it looks to me like Gemini is painting the yellow noses on these guys much too far back on the fuselage -- compared to some color profiles I've seen and what Corgi and C1 do with their Gallands, for example, it's quite a difference. This one looks like it does it, too, but no I do not have the evidence to say it's wrong. Anyone?

The yellow extended all the way to the edge of the engine access/bulkhead. Gemini is right, but something doesn't look quite right in that area, almost like the nose is a little long which makes the yellow extend too far back. Basically, the engine access panel line should be almost behind the supercharger intake and Geminis is a little further than that. (I think it may be that Gemini's supercharger intake is not shaped correctly near the mounting area)
Here is a pic to illustrate:

Re: Hans Hahn Bf-109F is out..

Is'nt that photo of Black 6 which would be a "G". Could there be a difference in the filter assemblies between the "F" to the "G"?

Ooops!

Thanks Harry! (Do you think Gemini got it right with the Galland, then, too?)

the photo is a G-2, but there is really no difference between the intakes on the Bf-109F and G. The only differences appear in the later G/K models when the supercharger intake was slightly modified, but even then it essentially remains in the same position.
Here is a pic of an F taken during WWII:

Could this photo be of earlier G-0 or G-1? Thought G-2s had two smaller engine cooling intakes on front part of engine cowling. One over forward portion of exhaust stubs and second one same level but slightly forward.

Re: Hans Hahn Bf-109F is out..

Looks like it is possible that vents I mentioned previously may have become standard starting with G-1. Picture attached is Bf 109G-2 at Duxford.
