| I must be doing something wrong; I just received Ferocious Frankie (I have all the GA P51's) and like all the other P51's I have had to use a dab of glue on the stands to keep the model from falling off. Is anyone else having this issue? I have not had this occur with the GA Spits or BF 109's. | |||||||||||||

| Re: P51B Stands I have had this problem with 2 of my Mustangs.. I don't know if someone at the factory is making the hole too big or if it is an undersized pin on the stand.. | |||||||||||||

| Re: P51B Stands I have the same problem with my two GA Mustangs. As far as I can tell, the main problem is the location of the hole for the stand. It is right in front of the air intake on the bottom of the P-51. So when the stand curves back from the hole, the air intake gets in the way and the plane will not sit on the stand correctly. This is not a problem on either the GA Spitfires of the BF-109s. The stand for the P-51 either has to have an extended plug to go into the hole (so the air intake won't be in the way) or GA has to move the hole. The location where it is now is nearly unusable. You can turn the plane around, if that's possible, or just not use the stand, i.e. set her on her wheels. My solution was to use a couple of IXO stands that I had available. I had to whittle down the plug to fit into the GA planes, but they work. But I still have to set the stand backwards because the air intake is in the way. I am now quite reluctant to get another GA P-51 because of the stand problem. If I do, she'll be setting on her wheels without the stand. | |||||||||||||

| Re: P51B Stands Well, I have over 600 - 1/400 scale models, with a 1/3rd of them being made by Gemini Jets and the stand/hole issue isn't a new one. Same goes for their 1/250 line as well. It seems to pretty much be a hit-and-miss as to the fit of the stand. | |||||||||||||

| Re: P51B Stands I agree guys that the stands are not the best but I have my three Gemini Mustangs posed on their stands. The air intake scoop is the problem. If you get the stand and pick the right or left part of the hole and force (gently) the support point the metal nearly fuses. The model leans ever so slightly to the left/right depending on what part of the hole you pick. The stand does not take a huge amount of movement like the others but it will work. No accidents with mine so far; fingers crossed! | |||||||||||||

| Re: P51B Stands: The Wobblies I was not aware of the problem so much as I was with Princess Elizabeth. Someone, somewhere, a long time ago--maybe it was Gort--or Harry Hwrth. Told me to use Elmer's. I was having all the problems mentioned in this thread. The air intake is the problem on the Mustang. I knew I had to wedge something into the hole to tighten up the peg/tip/nipple on the stand. I thought of a loose spindle or leg of a wooden chair. Wood putty? I cut a small piece of paper--an inch long and probably 1/16th of an inch wide. I laid it across the hole and pushed it in a bit with a micro screwdriver. I affixed Elmer's to the nipple, and forced that stand into the paper and into the hole. Then I clipped the ends of the paper sticking out. I pushed the bits of paper around the tip/nipple of the stand, then added a drop of glue on either side. Careful of the antenna, props, and tail. Hold the plane in one hand. Also be careful of the doors covering the wheels if you have wheels down. I let the glue dry, while the plane was on its back/prop/tail. I looks good now. It was an easy fix. I know some of my Corgi models keep going into a steep dive because of the stands. | |||||||||||||

| Re: P51B Stands Here is a picture of my Gemini Aces. I'll be receiving one or two more by the end of the year. Preordered. The are standing firm now; no need to put them on their teeny rubber wheels. | |||||||||||||

| Re: P51B Stands I also had the same problem, I took a Corgi stand and trimmed the plastic insert the plane sits snug with a small tilt. And if I remember correctly here or MH1 someone mentioned drilling the hole to fit the corgi stand. | |||||||||||||
