Re: A-1 Skyraider - Finally

Yeah it was a sweet. To see A-6's, A-1's, Jolly Green's and others flying was great. Yeah the bombing scenes were models, but overall I thought it was cool. Like flxwire said, "A good popcorn movie". The book is awsome and a much different ending.

I have the A-1 made by Armour in 1:100. It's a great little issue, but lacks the detail that makes the 1:72 and 1:48 really better scales for serious collectors. I can hadly wait for the Gemini release. A good friend of mine flew one in Nam, and will tell you, without too much prompting, that is was the greatest single engine fighter/bomber that ever flew.

Re: A-1 Skyraider - Finally

It will be nice to have the A-1 finally. Now we just need a Jolly Green so I can display them together.

Cool Re: A-1 Skyraider - Finally

Got to agree that the book is much better than the movie. There was a sequel too. Movies made of Tom Clancys' books also just don't live up to expectations. Bring on that Skyraider!

Re: A-1 Skyraider - Finally

Speaking od Flight of the Intruder, I would love to see an A-6. How about "Devil 505" from the movie. That airplane is now on display at the Yankee Air Museum.

Re: A-1 Skyraider - Finally

I thought I saw on the Hawkones site that HM are planning on doing an A1 this year as well.

Yes they will, it will be interesting to see how the HM & GA versions will compare with one another.

Hmmm....that might be a tough choice, but I'm sure I'll be getting one from each mfg. for sure!

Agreed flyX - only problem would be if both companies made the same livery. That would be the only issue. I'd love to see a USN version and then a USAF camouflaged version. Now I'd buy two!

Re: A-1 Skyraider - Finally

Dont forget Skyraiders came in single & two seat versions, myabe GA could make the single seater & HM the two seater.

Very good point. Although I'm partial to the single-seater, I would get at least one of each.
