Re: Gemini ACES - New Mold speculation

I'd like to see an early Hurricane - two-blade propeller and fabric wings - it would go nicely with the early Spitfire that we're promised. Another aircraft that I'd like to see available as a diecast model, whether by Gemini or anyone else, is the Fairey Battle. But I guess that's probably not mainstream enough . . .

Hello nf3996, and a warm welcome from Brittany !

Moreover, I am afraid the Battle wasn't successful enough... The Fulmar perhaps...?

Welcome aboard, nf3996, and enjoy your stay. Keep that Fairey Battle idea; and try to come up with a wish list of other planes you want to see in diecast. lanslide and a few others of us are trying to get some kind of poll going; and there's going to be a need for candidate aircraft for that poll.

Re: Gemini ACES - New Mold speculation

Hello nf3996, and a warm welcome from Brittany !

Many fairly decent warbirds performed badly in WWII because they were not used properly. The Battle was one of a number of capable single engined attack bombers developed just prior to the war----of these, Japan's "Kate" is probably the best known. Yet the "Kate", which was configured for both level bombing and torpedo attacks is widely regarded as a success because of its performance in the latter role at Pearl Harbor, the Coral Sea and Midway, while the Battle is considered a flop due largely to the way it was slaughtered in the attacks on the Meuse bridges in May 1940. I wonder how well the "Kate" would have fared if it was sent in low and without fighters to ward off BF-109s or suppress flak on that fateful day in France, instead of the Battle? This was a suicidal mission launched by a panicky high command and its failure was not the fault of the planes nor of their brave pilots.
