I'm going along with a "small mouth" P-40B/C as well....I know jim wouldn't want one,but he can just sit outside and play with his wasps all day.

ERM well I would really like a XP40. If not then a nice Tomahawk 11B, or Curtis XP-60D or a P40Q would be very nice too.
Any order will do.

BTW I voted for the P40, I bet that shocked you guys eh!

Wasps are cool, they can fly backwards.

Re: Gemini ACES - New Mold speculation

Why doesn't the flying tank ever get mentions in these posts. by that, i'm talking about the iL-2 Sturmovik. would there be any interest in it?
i'm just throwing the idea up in the air here

i'm gettin bored of FW-190's and P-47's(When dragon's is much better than Corgi's already. Though I only got Corgi's ones cos they were cheap, but if i had the money, i'd get the Dragon ones) and I'm counting on Dragon's P-40's to be pretty good too.

Re: Gemini ACES - New Mold speculation

Well, Since we know what Gemini's next 3 are going to be (Skyraider, Phantom, Early Spitfire) I will speculate that the ones after that could be Bf-109E (to go with Spitfire, BoB motif), Mig15, and (Late) Corsair variant (Late WWII, Korean war)

Good thinking! Love the concept...would also add (please, please) Russian WWII (they had aces, too), and a line of WWII Japanese (aces, again). Why not?! Can you imagine a nice Betty landing on your display shelf, a Yak-3 buzzing your 109 (or your Tiger)? Mmmm? I mean, if you want something different, in this market (Western oriented), you can't get much different than Russian or Japanese (or Italian?).

It HAS been mentioned plenty, in fact. I'm all in favor (1/48 please) but many forum members were kind of cool to the idea, for some reason. To me, it would be a must in any WWII collection.

Just like you, Andrew, I'm getting tired of the same old stuff coming out. Time for Russian and Japanese themes to get some attention (and French, and Italian).

Re: Gemini ACES - New Mold speculation

I'll second that emotion for the Sturmovik, especially in 1/48.

By the way, I was reading a recent article about a Luftwaffe AA gunner's experiences on the Eastern Front and he talked about how the IL-2 could fire rockets backward after a ground attack pass- he said they had to stay under cover for some time after it passed overhead.

Never knew that before.

Re: Gemini ACES - New Mold speculation

I would love to see them do something different though I voted for the Corsair. As nice a Gemini seem to be, I've yet to buy one because I can only take so many Spitfires, Mustangs, and 109s. At least surprise us with one of molds. Maybe a Yak 3, IL-2, Lav 5/7, P39, or Machi 202 Folgore. I need something to peak my interest. Everybody does Mustangs, Spitfires, etc. I'm just getting tired of them

Thumbs up Re: Gemini ACES - New Mold speculation

I'm glad to see the direction this thread is taking with more of us expressing interest in neglected areas like Russian aircraft in particular. I'd take the IL2 without batting an eyelid even though fighters are my preference. There doesn't seem to be much interest in the Zero but there are so many Japanese planes that could be done if you have a look at IXOs offerings. And yes some Italian stuff would be nice even if they were produced in very small numbers, a Macchi 205 would be very, very cool!

Re: Gemini ACES - New Mold speculation

I have gone for the Fw190 on the poll.

What inpressed me with the Gemini aces, was the lack of visable joints. Compare a GA spitfire to a Corgi Spitfire, and GA looks so much better. I think this is mainly due to the Corgi Casting being "old technology".

The FW190 would be a good choice, as only GA and Corgi seem to go for the pilot and wheels up option. Corgi dropped the ball a bit with the Fw190, by not doing many Defence Of The Reich models. GA will probably notice this, so I would expect quite a few of them , if they do opt for a Fw190.

Re: Gemini ACES - New Mold speculation

I have difficulty saying no to FW190s but I would also prefer a Soviet IL-2, one of the most mass produced combat aircraft of all time it deserves a place in the diecast sun (1/48 & 1/72 scale please).
