I have got to say this is one of the best pictures ...The background is great on it.

I'm no big fan of the Spitfire, so collecting only those in US markings makes it easy to stop at three for me.

Wash your mouth out Shawn. The Spitfire In my not humble opinion is was and always will be the most beautifull fighter to ever take to the skies. I hearby order you to go forth and collect every one and and then sit and just drool over them.

I can't seem to find any smilies but I would put a GREAT BIG smilie smilie at the end of this post.

Looking at the photos is this the best Spitfire model we have yet seen ????

God Bless America.

Re: GAUSA1004 USAAF Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IX

This model actually makes it easier for me to continue collecting spitfires. I just bought another IXO spitfire as a gift for my nephew.

Hey Mark,
Do you think that you could shoot a series of the Corgi, Gemini, Wittty, IXO and Dragon Spitfires all together?
That would make for a cool comparison.

Agreed that would be great.

Admin - a great feature for the website would be to have some side by side photo comparisons of same plane by different mfg's

Ooops!

Great idea Timbo! That would be a great section to have! Although, that could mean a lot of work for someone. Maybe we could have multiple contributers to the pic area.

Cool Re: GAUSA1004 USAAF Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IX

Very nice pics. I quite like Spits and have quite a few. This one looks very good. Very tempting indeed.

Sorry Old Boy, the Spitfire just doesn't spin my wheels. For me the P-51B with malcom hood is the most beautiful fighter. Most durable, the P-47 Thunderbolt (razorbacks being the best looking). Most casualty producing, Hellcat! And then the Corsair, she is that ugly only mothers can love.
But for a British bird, the Spitfire is a cutie. There happy now? Or is it the mosquito?

Re: GAUSA1004 USAAF Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IX

Just got my Spitfire today. Man, what a great piece of diecast these Gemini models are! Love the attention to detail. The markings are great as are the movable control surfaces. The pilot looks much better than the version that was in the first Gemini releases.

I noticed that the Spitfire's wings have a gentle upslope from the roots up to the wingtips - I don't have to "force" them like the Corgi model required. I like this plane so much that I'm seriously thinking about getting one of the Gemini British Spitfires. I really don't get "excited" by Spitfires, but these models have something about them that just begs for them to be purchased. Time to count pennies again! My only complaint is that Gemini did not use "inked" panel lines. (only kidding!)

Doing what you want is freedom; doing what you like is happiness.
