Re: USAAF Spit and Desert Me 109

Both these models arrived yesterday, and both are excellent.

The Spit is the better of the two (IMVHO), and even though I own some 16 Corgi Spits (and will continue to buy them), the GA version is far superior. The wing radiators are sharply defined and fit snuggly, the canopy fits tightly, the pilot (having dieted) is excellent, and the moveable parts fit well.

The 109 has a couple problems: there is a smear of paint on the rudder, and the sand filter has braces that don't quite touch the fuselage. However, these problems are minor; after all, the filter DID come with braces, which is the first time I've seen that on any 109E/F/or G (though all mine are 1/72).

Re: USAAF Spit and Desert Me 109

I'm looking forward to both these arriving this week. I have seven Geminis at present, 3 P-51's, 2 Spitfires, and 2 ME-109's and touch wood (banging my head here) I've had no QC problems with any of them. I would agree with Pappy they are superb (barring some small faults which I don't lose sleep over) and the best value for money around. My dealer does as super job of packing and as I would have between 3--5 models arriving I feel the bigger boxes don't attract the football mad logistics people.

Re: USAAF Spit and Desert Me 109

Black 6,
Hey there.

I will attest to the fact that I've heard from more than a few folks the same thing about marking packages fragile. Just makes them a target.

I've also never met a postal worker who felt they were treated well by their management.

On the other hand, I figure it can't be that bad. I've also never met, or dealt professionally with a single postal worker who up and quit.

The vendor can prevent 99% of damage to the planes/tanks they ship by packing them well.

To stay marginally on topic, all the Gemini planes I've received have been perfect. Great fit, great QAQC. They have done a great job so far and I'll definitely be coming back for more.

Re: USAAF Spit and Desert Me 109

I am weak and unworthy....

Picked up my USAAF Spit and N. Africa Me 109F today from my local shop (Skidmarks - also a member of the forum).

Kept looking at the Gemini "Berlin Express" P-51. Had the first 2 (Spit and Me 109) at the counter, and he (the dealer) told me if I picked up a 3rd plane he'd knock an additional 10% off all 3. I caved and now am also the owner of my first Gemini P-51. I really didn't NEED another P-51 - but..."B" model...it looked great...AND the malcolm hood...what can I say - this is an addiction.

Regarding QC - I looked at all the Gemini Spits (5); P-51's (2); and Me 109s (3) in their boxes - no glaring QC issues visible. Have not had the chance to open these yet for closer inspection.

Skidmarks had one each of these open and on display - they ALL look great to me.

Re: USAAF Spit and Desert Me 109

Just received the Neumann 109 and I'm very pleased. The color on the lower surface is bright but seems to match the Osprey book I have on aces of the MTO. Sure is pretty!

Re: USAAF Spit and Desert Me 109

Great collection Parsig. I'm lucky to have them all except TFM FW-190 exclusive. You seem to be as tight for space as me! The ME-109 looks great and I hope to have it, and the new Spitfire early next week.

Re: USAAF Spit and Desert Me 109

The Spitfire and ME-109F arrived today and proved well worth the wait. No packing issues thankfully. The Spitfire in particular is very attractive in the unusual scheme chosen and makes a change from the other MTO aircraft. The detail on the ME-109 is excellent and follows the high standards that Gemini have set. PWC,PWC
