| Quality Control Could someone please post on here a list of Gemini Aces models so far that have obvious inaccuracies. Would the BF109's that have been made so far, would have had the long aerial wires along the top of the actual planes themselves? In other words like the Corgi 1:32 scale Hurricane that was made in this way. This is all because, would like to collect only accurate detailed models from this range. Cheers. ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: Quality Control
There has been talk about the first couple of Spitfires and thier colors, the first Mustang has an improperly shaped antenna. I never followed the talk on the Bf109s. But Everything I do hear about the range to include my own observations is, you'd be hard pressed to find better in this scale. I own all of the Mustangs to date, and two of the Spitfires. I'd say they are the best range in my collection. - Shawn

| Re: Quality Control
It looked to me like the antenna on the first mustang--"Bald Eagle"-- was inserted by the factory upside down. I pulled it out , drilled a small hole in the base, put in a thin bit of brass rod, and inserted the antenna on the plane with the thick part resting on the fuselage. It looks fine now. As for the colors on "Bald Eagle", there is a debate concerning the use of two separate shades of olive drab or green. So far, I'm not sure that this has been resolved.

| Re: Quality Control While this range does look like very good-quality, and has received a lot of hype, I was seriously taken aback when I decided to get one of their Spitfires and suddenly realized that the forward canopy was wrong. In fact, there is no windscreen as such, and Gemini even forgot to provide un upper frame to the windscreen area, which gives the whole assembly a most odd appearance. As far as I know all their Spits have this same fault. By the way, I contacted GeminiAces to report on this blunder, and to inquire whether this would be corrected in future releases... After 3 months I'm still waiting for a response! ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: Quality Control The only problem I have with Gemini Spits is that the propeller is backwards. I took the spinner off in the hope that it was just an assembly problem, but the propeller was actually engineered backwards. There is no way to put the propeller on so that it displays correctly without a bit of modification. I also e-mailed Gemini four months ago to point this out, and haven't heard from them. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Quality Control My Bald Eagle also had antenna placed upside down, (thick end up). Blades on props of both my Gemini just do not look right .. compare them to a Corgi 4 blader. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Quality Control As far as the two colors of green on the "Bald Eagle", I suspect this is probably correct. The olive drab on the anti-glare panel was what was put on at the factory while the overpainting of the stripes on the wing and upper fuselage were probably done in Britain with locally available paint--in other words, British dark green. It was common for 8th Air Force fighters to use the British dark green on their upper surfaces when camouflage was applied--only because it was available while the US olive drab was not. Hence. the two different shades of green on "Bald Eagle". | |||||||||||||

My take on it was just simple weathering. The anti glare panel having faded more than the wings as it had been on for longer

| Re: Quality Control I can only comment on the Spits as that's all I have bought from them so far. As well as what has already been said, I noticed the following. There is no inscribed engine panel line where the demarcation between upper and lower camo is on the nose. The upper surface of the ailerons on the wings is too large; the lower surface is greater than the upper on the real aircraft, which has the knock-on effect that the wing roundels are too small. Gemini do seem to be improving on the flaws gradually as they bring out new releases, though the ones I list above will probably not be fixed since they are inherrent problems with the actual mold. | |||||||||||||
