Re: P-51B Ding Hao & Bf 109F Lt Huy

Just received my first Gemini P-51B, Ding Hao, today. When I opened the box I was dismayed to see the model in "kit form". The lower wing assembly was detached from the fuselage and the cockpit assembly was loose along with the radiator scoop. Fortunately, I was able to reassemble the model which uses the radiator scoop as a pressure fitting holding the whole thing together. After that, other than a gap at the port wing root, I was pretty happy. But for the price I was a little disappointed in the QC. However, it is a very handsome model and the gear down option is well designed and solid. Wish I could say the same for the stand which does not hold the model securely at all. All in all I'll give in a 7 out of 10.

Now that's just plane nasty Migmauler! I received an IXO Dornier DO335 with the same problem, now that I could live with, it's an IXO. I definitely expect more from GA. Given the high expectations prior to their release, I'm quite disappointed with their quality control. I just trust it gets better, quickly. Harry reckons that they do listen us so maybe it will.

I really like my P-51B "Ding Hao". It has no quality control issues and sits very solidly on its gear. I will buy more Gemini Aces!

Re: Bf 109F Lt Huy

I received my Lt. Huy Bf-109 today and am quite happy with it. The only QC issue I have is with the prop and spinner assembly. Their is a significant gap between the spinner and its back plate (the plate between the prop assembly and the fuselage). I had to use a thin razor knife to scrape away various bumps and flash before I could force it flush together. Not something I should have to do. There is also an awful droop to the whole prop (like you find with some of the Corgi Fw-190s props).

Otherwise the finish is fine and it does look nice. But you loose a lot of the luster and joy of getting a new model when you have to do unnecessary detail work.
