What I would like to see next

I would love to see gemini come out with a fw 190, they have done such a nice job on all the other planes so I can't wait to see what they do next.

Smile Re: What I would like to see next

Plenty of rumours about a Bristol Beaufighter for next year , if upto current standards it should be superb.

Re: What I would like to see next

If the rumors about Gemini doing a Beaufighter in 2008 are true this suggests that they are positioning themselves to compete more aggressively for a leading role with Hobby Master, Dragon and Corgi. If, on the other hand, they opt for a FW-190 or another plane that everyone does because it is supposed to be a sure bet---like an F4U, or P-47-- then they are probably going to remain a niche entity. I hope that Gemini decides to be more venturesome since such a move, if successful, will stimulate others to try much wanted but "risky" planes like "Vals", "Kates", IL-2s, ME-410s, etc.

Re: What I would like to see next

I'd still like a birdcage Corsair, early P-40 with small mouth, and yeah I'd like a A36/P-51A Allison engined bird. Not into Axis birds or those flown by the Soviet Union.

Re: What I would like to see next

Would love to see em produce a beaufighter. But would also love to see them do a mozzie, im sure there is plenty of room for improvement on corgis offering

Infact id like to see there take on all aircraft types as i have been so impressed with what they have put out so far.

Maybe gemini will be the first to compete with corgi on the bigger types lanc 17s etc, now that would be interesting

Re: What I would like to see next

Whatever happened to the three projects they had in the works: Spitfire Mk.I, RAF Phantom II, and A-1 Skyraider? If these are still a go, will there be anything additional for 2008? Seems unlikely to me.

Re: What I would like to see next

GA does seem to have slowed down. They pour a lot of effort into their 1/400 airliners, so maybe they just don't have the resources. Personally, I would like some Soviet planes first, then some Japanese. Some of the early-war spatted Japanese fighters would be great; their bombers were also good lookers. However, we'll probably get more of the Western-European-theater offerings. I'd go for a nice Fw 190 if they do plan to do repeats...

Re: What I would like to see next

If Dragon is truly getting out of the business, I think that leaves a large hole for GA or HM to step into. Personally, I would love to see a new P-51D, P-47, F4U, Fw190 and a P-38 (without a butchered nose). IMHO, Corgi's efforts are lacking (except for maybe the F4U) and Witty's offerings do nothing for me. We have not seen a real good 1/72 P-51D in a long time. We all may have saturated collections but I am willing to bet we would all make room for a great new model. Also, what do NEW collectors have to look forward to? The real good P-51 schemes are pretty much sold out or major $$ (££) so what do they buy?

Sure go on and make the new and niche models but also keep in mind that the classics can always be improved - even if it is down the road.

My one criticism for GA - lose the movable rudder. For me it ruins an otherwise great model - the large gaps and hinges make it look toy-like. The jury is still out on ailerons and flaps...
