Another Gemini endorsement

Finally succumbed to pressure and bought Skalski's RAF P-51B. VERY nice!!! The box is nice (I love the 'velvet interior! LOL) though the "Gemini Aces" logo/font is kinda weird. I've never considered keeping a model boxed before, but these would be good for that.

The plane itself is very nice! There are a few things I wish were different. No navigational lights (which I believe are on the Dragon P-51s); my skinny aerial leans forward and according to the box art, is in the wrong position; fuel tank markings are sorta crude; and there could be some more details painted on. However, my pilot (and I believe it was Leftenant Quasimodo, not Skalski!!) was easily removed, the cockpit interior is very nice, and I'm pondering whether I should attempt to recrew the plane with some actual model figures.

Still, it's a great model! I'll be getting the Ding Hao P-51B (Gotta have those canopy variants!! LOL) and most likely a Spit and Me109. ANy recommendations?

Re: Another Gemini endorsement

Hey Allen,
I have both Gemini Spits and both are really nice.. Probably the best Gemini or anyone else has to offer.. I know some folks have made comments about the paint color being off, but you can't beat the casting.. I would say get both, but if you want just one, I would recommend getting JJs Spit.. It is the Gemini's 1st issue and a top ace, and one you'll probably regret not getting 5 years from now..

Hi Mr AllenTC2,
I agree with you on several points : I've seen the lack of navigational lights too, and the crude tank markings... it's too bad, according to the overall great finish of the GA's models. About the pilot, well... of course it's Quasimodo, but I wonder how GA succeed to put him in the cockpit... , maybe they built the model around him...
I'm waiting for GA they correct quickly these problems...

Re: Gemini endorsement

I posted in another thres about the lights. Yet there is something fresh about the packaging, the stand, and the heft of the models.

As I have written elsewhere, I am trying to collect a Mustang from every fighter group. This is certainly a very fine addition to my two squadrons--and I now begin my quest for a complete fighter group of 75 different Mustangs.

Ding Hao! is next up.
