| The number of negative comments raised about the antenna on the 1st issue Gemini P-51B got me curious. I have eight Mustangs: 2 @ 1:100 (Armour); 1 @ 1:48 (Franklin Mint) and 5 @ 1:72 (Gemini, Corgi, Dragon Wings and Easy Model.) I decided to check out the relative sizes of the antennas in each of the above scales. This is an eyeball ceck, no micrometers used, but it appears to me that, regardless of scale, the antennas on every P-51 I own are stubby and oddly formed at the tip. One's gotta wonder if the antennas on real P-51`s were just as stubby as those on the diecast models. I haven't been near a 51 in some time, but there may be more than a coincidence at work here. Sorta, Monkey see.......... | |||||||||||||

| Re: P-51 antennas It seem to me that all wartime photos of the P51B/C show 2 types of antenna, the most common being a slim airfoil shape with a round base the other being a whip but this seems to be fitted to a/c with the Malcolm hood,P51D's all seem to have a standard antenna again airfoil shaped which is cambered towards the top ![]() ![]() | |||||||||||||
