Gemini interiors

Okay.....call me obsessed, but can anyone tell me if there is ANY cockpit detail in the P-51B? If so...how does one go about removing the pilot?

On mine, the canopy is like looking through the bottom of a coke bottle, so it's hard to tell if there's a pilot in there, let alone cockpit detail. I imagine you could blow the canopy with an x-acto, but there is no telling how tightly that jolly old elf is jammed in there...can't be much room for detail... ...awaiting developments.

Re: Gemini interiors

It's easy with a ball pean hammer.

I generally use a razor blade or no.11 Exacto blade to lever up on each side of a canopy......until it pops loose or breaks I've never had one break....yet.

The instrument panel has gauges. The rest of the cockpit has basic to no detail, and most of it is not even painted! I corrected all that of course The pilot went in the great round beyond.

Re: Gemini interiors

I got a Squadron catalog yesterday..I must say I'm kinda intrigued with those cockpit detail sets. I wonder how hard it'd be to "upgrade" the Dragon, Hobbymaster and Gemini interiors.

Still...thanks for the info. I now must order that P-51B.

Probably akin to building a ship in a bottle as those are intended for plastic assembly kits.

Gotta agree with Skunky here. I have built a few 1/72 kits and put in the detailed aftermarket cockpits. Even if the detail kit is specific for a particular kit manufacturer, it takes patience, attention to detail, a steady hand, and full access to the cockpit area with half the fuselage missing to get one of those in correctly.

Still, if you are brave and skilled, it might be worth it...

Smile Re: Gemini interiors

Given bsmith's insight's my view would be that this custom project may put your model at risk. While success would make a great model even better, failure could spell disaster!

Shureleee you mean "great round behind"?.......sounds like Mrs Lofty
Rumours she modelled for the pilot casting remain unsubstansiated at present......
