Re: F-22 Raptor feedback

Well in that case i might be better off to wait and see if Witty or Dragon might make a F-22.

Or you could get the Gaincorp one now, and replace it with a Witty/Dragon one if and when they release one ;-) I've got the Gaincorp planes, and am reasonably happy with it. But if a better option comes along, I'll get rid of the one I've got and replace it with the better model.

Re: F-22 Raptor feedback

Well maybe your right since it may be a year from now before another company comes in and makes a F-22 Raptor.
I don't know what's in store for 2007 with the diecast gods.

Don't worry Tyler -- I think a lot of us missed that one (Skunkie at his best)

Re: F-22 Raptor feedback

I have the first one that came out, and I (duck....incoming!!!) dare say it's really a very nice model and I'm reasonably happy with it. Since this Raptor is the only 'game in town', I'm patient enough to wait and see what Witty, or the other mfgrs., will spit out their version.

Re: F-22 Raptor feedback

I keep lauging at the peeing-dog post...

That is probably the thing that bothers me most about the Gaincorp Raptor. You should probably know their original mould had an incredibly long nose probe (tried to replicate the early prototypes?) If you look closely at the copies you have, you can still see the marks left on the mould when they tried to fix this: the port and starboard sides are different in shape and finish!

Somebody once suggested I unscrew the model and do some modification to the main gear...instead, I still play with the idea of shortening the nose-gear.
At certain angles the "rotation effect" won't be so disturbing (say: nose pointing straight at you), but I really could not resist getting it (knowing all of these) because nobody produced the Raptor model.

Re: F-22 Raptor feedback

I have both Gaincorp Raptors, the Spirit of America and the Edwards AFB one. I prefer the Edwards one, both for livery's sake, and because it is less cluttered than the Spirit of America. The Spirit's has open Sidewinder bays, unfortunately they are stuck in the open position, and makes the model much more cluttered, and easily breakable. The Spirit does come with bombs, though, which is what sold me on that model. The ED Raptor has a darker livery than the light gray, and looks more like a frontline F-22 than the Spirit, which is obviously a showbird.

I don't really have any issues with the sit of the model, and I'm probably the ultimate rivet counter. They look good on display, and are the only decent diecast Raptors out there. An added bonus is the Amraam mbay, on both of them the bay opens and an Amraam posse pops out. I don't really see how Witty could improve on them, but then again Witty's F-15s blow Gaincorps away. So I say go for it.

Re: F-22 Raptor feedback

i wish dragon would do an f-22. I would want one with variable bay doors and weapons!! I think if anyone could do a raptor that looks as cool as its options it would be dragon. however, i thinkmit will be a race between witty and dragon becuase you know the first company to get the first aircraft into the line will surely dominate that market. And with the f-22 being americas newest and most favorite aicraft its important. To be honest i had a gaincorp raptor but sold it after receiving it. it was poorly shaped and detailed, the paint was off and the decals choices were boring. The one thing i liked were the variable bay doors.
