Re: 1/72 Chinese fighter J-10

Thanks PNF. I just bought one myself. I was also interested to see the J-11 Flanker models in the same store. Not as good as Witty, but interesting to see a Flanker model produced by a Chinese company.

Re: 1/72 Chinese fighter J-10

I am one of the few owners of a previous Gaincorp release Bort 27, exact same livery. Unfortunately, as far as I could gather, Bort 27 is NOT a Su-27, but a Su-27UBK (tandem seat). Bort 09 (tail # 30009 according to the picture) is a Russian-manufactured Su-27, not a Chinese-produced J-11. The J-11 with code number 09 would have to carry the tail # 11089 instead.
This site has pictures and information on the topic.

That J-10 on the other hand is an interesting release, although I am affraid a bit too rough...but I would not wait for another manufacturer to produce it, so if I want it, I will have to get the Gaincorp!

yes, it is the standard with this particular packaging, but as I warned in an earlier thread, the holes drilled underbelly sacrifice missile pylons.

Thumbs up Re: 1/72 Chinese fighter J-10

WOW!!! I just ordered the J-10 a week ago, and it arrived today!!! I'm very impressed on the delivery service!! Here's a quick view of the model: Putting it into scale of a Witty Wing F/A-18F and F-16.. The J-10 is larger that the F-16 in length but just about even with the F/A-18F.. Wingspan wise the J-10 delta is just a little bit smaller than the F/A-18F.. The acft is finished in 2 tone gray (Light and Dark), I have a few marks in the paint (Scuffs really) located in about the same places on both wings, BUT this doesn't detract from the overall scheme.. Nav lights are painted and correct, and the decals are bright and in correct position on both sides, top and bottom this really complements the model.. There are a few small gaps in the forward part of the body (Cockpit, Nosedome, Intake area), BUT, I'm not complaining about it. The aircraft has the mx panels detailed along with flaps and vertical tail and there is no detail wash on them. Not too bad cockpit detail there is a pilot and ejection seat and center control stick. You can see the panels in the cockpit (Very nicely done).. Cockpit canopy is clean with NO scratches and it does not open.. Nice weapons load on the acft. Large centerline tank, 2 Radar guided missiles, 2 Aim 9 type missiles (Larger rear fins) looks like the Israel Python type, and 4 I would say 500lb bombs (2 each side). Landing gear in down position and this you can't change. Nice display stand (Gaincorp metal style) that mounts behind the centerline tank. Overall I would say that I really like this 1/72 scale model of the J-10, I'm glad I ordered it when I did!!! This is going to look VERY good in the display case!! Sorry I don't have any digital pics to post (I don't have a digital camera --- yet..), but if you look at the pics at the beginning of this post, you have a very good idea.. Again, I'm VERY impressed with the shipping of the order.. I wasn't expecting this to arrive at least for a couple weeks. Heck, this baby beats the other diecasts in arrival time that I ordered at the same time stateside (2 of them are schd to show up Thursday!!) NOW if I can find a really truly 1/72 scale FC-1/JF-17!!!

Re: 1/72 Chinese fighter J-10

Great model.
I bought it from Ebay..(as ussually).
Decent quality...not really what you would expect from Gaincorp...
No opening canopy or moving flight control surfaces.
Overall robust construction with a lot of plastic components...Decals markings too...
I'll give 3 stars out of 5 for this model.

I like everything that flies, except flies...
