Question Bong's P-38 "MARGE"---FM or Corgi?

I'm thinking of buying Bong's P-38 "Marge". Any suggestions--should I buy Franklin Mint's 1/48 or Corgi's 1/72?

(I'm aware that FM planes have no pilot or retracting landing gear).

Thanks for any suggestions

Seems the choice perhaps should simply come down to what scale you prefer? Personally, I really like the FM P-38 -- the massive size of this airframe just comes across better to me in 1:48 versus 1:72 and if you have room I'd say you'd probably be happy with it. Corgi's may be more accurate? (I don't own that one... but I did sell off my previous Corgi P-38s to focus on FM's 1:48 line. Though I suspect I'm swiming upstream with that choice )

I just got the FM Marge and it's a nice model.

I am thinking on the same lines as Pappy, It depends on the scale you prefer.
The Corgi P38s are very good , I have a couple, I just picked up the warbirds Pudgy for only £5.00.

If you have the space I would be tempted by a 1/48 example.
I built a 1/48 Kit of a P38 and it certainly stood out, unfortunately it fell victim to one of Lorraines cleaning frenzies!

The Franklin Mint's P-38 is one of their best birds. Further there is something about the P-38 in 1:48 scale that just makes it much more striking than in 1:72. I recommend that if you can only get one, go with the Mint.

I agree with the above posts. I have both Corgi's and FM's P-38's and I really like Franklin's Marge P-38.

Does anyone put out the earlier F model of the P-38?

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Geez, I have the Corgi Bong and quite like it. It was my first P38 and I've landed two more since. Can't go wrong if you prefer 1/72. That said, given the above responses, I'd be keen to see the two side by side. Any takers?

The Corgi version is mostly sold out though I'm sure you can find one if you hunt around. But be prepared to pay full sticker on it.

I have the Corgi Bong P-38 and I love it (as I love all the Corgi P-38s). I hope you can find a Corgi Bong, though, as I understand they are getting hard to come by.

Re: Bong's P-38 "MARGE"---FM or Corgi?

I agree with the 1/48 sentiments. I have both and although the Corgi Lightning is nice, the FM just looks alot better due to the size difference. In a way it's cute vs cool!
