Critique of Ju87D-Gs Wanted

Hey All! Can anyone refer me to a good critique of the FM Ju87 D-G Stukas? How are they as far as accurate size and shape? How is the fit, finish, and attention to detail? I primarily collect C1 and HM 1:48th,and I want to know how this A/C compares to the other companies worksmanship and accuracy. Many Thanks for any owners to help me.

Here's my thoughts on the only FM Ju87 diecast:

Pics: B11E183 "Dora" Winter Camo Stuka

I really like it a lot and it's really quite an eye-catcher if you can overlook the obvious inaccuracies. I would still highly
recommend it especially if you can get it for a deal.

Mine appears a bit underscale (1/50 ish), and the swazi is not in proper diamond orientation. Also, the 37 mm cannon have solid tips. I do not consider it a showpiece.

Thanks,folks....X-Wire,your photos are superb, and showed me just what I needed to see.I wonder why, with the excellent Hasegawa 1:48 models for patterns, why F.M. couldn't get it right? Not like its an obscure A/C or anything. Heck, the old Monogram kit would have given better results as a pattern than FMs "artistic license" production..............

I think the Hasegawa 1/48th scale Ju 87B predates the FM model.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

I hear ya buddy! Too bad CDC Armour/FM didn't put those nice little touches to bang out what would otherwise been an outstanding replica had they only done their research properly! Well at least FM is trying to make some room for improvements with their other molds - the Mirage III is a good example.

Re: Critique of Ju87D-Gs Wanted

In fairness to the old CDC Armour line, which is now under the Franklin Mint banner, this was the first real player in the diecast revolution that began in earnest in the mid-1990s. Their decision to produce models with relatively sparse detail---especially on their undersides---was a marketing concept that might have worked if Corgi, Dragon and others hadn't jumped in with far superior products. Where CDC Armour was making models that looked OK when seen from a distance on a tabletop or book shelf, their competitors offered far superior detail---top and bottom--- which is what most collectors found more appealing.

I have one each of CDC Armour's JU-87B and D and these are fine sitting on the bottom shelf of my display cabinets...providing I don't look at them too closely. Later Armour models, such as its SBD, plus a number of new newer Franklin Mint entries---the F4F, for example, are much better and stand up fairly well to competitive options.
