flyXwire - I agree completely with your assessment of this model - just going by the photos you've provided!!! I'm not a fan of the real plane itself; however, that being said, if I was, this particular model would most definitely be the "showcase" of my collection!! Not to complain, of course, but I'm curious as to why Armour didn't include the usual refueling probe on the right side of the fuselage - or did this particular version not have one...?? - I'm speaking out of ignorance here since I know relatively little about the various Mirage variants. But it seems strange that since most versions seem to be equipped with one, why it wasn't included in this one... PS: PM me and if you're interested (using a favorite "large-file" sender - it's FREE, by the way...!!), if you send me your email address, I'll send you a really nice, large-format WMV-type video of a French Alpha trainer & a Mirage chasing each other through the French Alps - the scenery is spectacular & the flying is great! Let me know - or you can merely email me at jby53@harbornet.com & I'll send it to you ASAP!! - JY |
Very FEW Mirages III or 5 ever received a refuelling probe, and only at the very end of their life.
This feature became currently available on French fighters only from the Mirage F1C n° 200.
Before that, the only French combat aircraft with a refuelling probe have been the Navy's Etendard IVA and IVP, and the Mirage IVA nuclear bomber.
