Re: Latest FM acquisition

nice snags Dusty -- that tomcat looks pretty good, too (and sounds like a very good deal!)

I, too, am trying that "one of each type" approach and am failing miserably -- particularly when it comes to Phantoms....

Re: Latest FM acquisition

As I was saying about Phantoms...

This 1:100 CDC Phantom touched down yesterday from Jolly Ol' England -- lousy packaging job but it survived more or less intact (nothing a sharpie and a bit of CA couldn't fix...). Been looking for this one for a long time, and got it for a good deal even considering shipping.

Surprisingly, it's almost entirely tampo graphics -- I think the only stickers are the insignia on the wing tips.

Art #: 5046

Re: Latest FM acquisition

Nice pickup there DustyBin! I have the same F-104 (USAF).....iconic IMHO. The Reapers Tomcat is pretty cool too. Just sucks that FM didn't make their variable wing jets......um.....variable!

Re: Latest FM acquisition

I am looking at a FM P-47 (the French one). Are these any good?

Can we try with real bullets now?

THere are two French P-47s I'm aware of -- one is much cooler than the other IMO and much more rare... (FMB405 -- not sure what the original CDC # is)

FME096 is much more common, more plain... and going for peanuts on ebay at the moment.

The P-47 in general is one of FM's better efforts, though.

Are they any good? Its all in the eye of the beholder. But I wouldn't put it next to your Tamiya Masterworks Razorback.

If you can find one of those... that is... and remember, those are quite a bit more $. You can get the common French jug for $30 or so...

Re: Latest FM acquisition

Another CDC 1:100 -- this one may be somewhat rare, not sure... but I think it's pretty cool. An Israeli Air Force Longbow...

Re: Latest FM acquisition

Got this the other day for $40 and had never seen one. For about the same $ as the Corgi I thought it was worth the risk. I've never seen a real one so I don't know about the angle the aircraft sits at but this one is certainly nose high. The paint is applied beautifully and all markings are painted on. ( I swear Pappy)

Don't forget the targets are my airfields, Leigh-Mallory, and you're not getting fifty, you're not even getting ten.
