Re: Latest FM acquisition

I know it's a bit risky, but in cases like this I have used a super fine grit sandpaper--or polishing equivalent like toothpaste-- to gently remove the "crust"of the blemish so I have a fairly smooth surface , which is marred---or so it seems-- by very fine scratch marks caused by the sanding or polishing. Then I apply Future floor polish with a rounded mid sized brush--to avoid streaking---several times---letting it dry thoroughly after every application. Sometimes three or even four carefully laid on coats of Future are needed, but this approach, while not a guaranteed 100% winner, often works for me. Future fills in the scratch lines nicely provided they are more or less uniform in direction, and then gives the whole canopy area a nice glossy look. However, you want to apply Future across the entire surface of the canopy portion that is in question (within the frame lines), not just to the affected area. This helps to produce a uniform look.

After some minor toothpaste 'buffing'/polishing, I just dip the whole canopy into a small container of Future/Klear polish, take out and let dry on a paper towel - no streaking and looks better than new .

(Don't forget to wash the canopy after toothpaste 'buffing' and prior to putting into Future/Klear polish 'dip'.)

I recently got these 2 Mustangs. From what I understand, band on fuselage was yellow for students aircraft and red for instructors aricraft.

Re: Latest FM acquisition

These two touched down yesterday from classic closeouts -- $27 each delivered, not bad 'tal. (impeccable packing, too, I might add)

Rall's 109 and Hondt's 190 -- both look like recent releases from FM and have 100% pad-printed graphics.

I don't know anything right now about what Rall's mount looked like but I nabbed this as no one else that I am aware of does a diecat Rall livery ???? Strange omission... For the dough, I definitely like them -- can't imagine paying $60 for each

Only potential FM "Friday Gaff" that I've noticed so far is it looks like someone forgot to paint the armour plating behind the pilot in the 109 cockpit... that 190 just looks wicked with those twin-barrelled gun pods.

Re: Latest FM acquisition

Very nice 190 and 109 there, Pappy!! I think that FM does an excellent job on their 190's, as well as their Stukas!!

Looking forward to annoying the 'former' Florida Diecast Forum members!!

Re: Latest FM acquisition

Interestingly... the 109 has an all metal prop/spinner... the 190's appears to be plastic.

Re: Latest FM acquisition

Some good looking diecast there PappyB .

I like FM's FW190s even with their gear 'rake' issues. I almost purchased the Hondt version recently but wasn't sure if it was 'pad-printed' (now I know it is - thanks PappyB).

Could someone please clarify whether the yellow stripes on top are correct or should they be red?

It looks to me like FM gave this 190 gear more "rake" than the original FW 190s... still not enough though. And both of these models have 100% pad-printed (painted) graphics, as stated below

You have to wonder why more companies don't tackle Rall liveries ..
