Re: Latest FM acquisition

Thanks for the info John, I don't see myself repainting it though. Heck, maybe I'll just ebay it with the set of decals and see if I can recoup my investment!

Pappy - Roger that. I've had to do the "return to eBay" twice before - AA bought my last one. Hopefully this upcoming #4 will be better. I'd like to know if altering the paint job will seriously affect the value or not. I'm not sure if I'll do it, but the idea of masking off everything essential & spraying a thin clear coat or two on top of everything (decals, too) would ward off "silvering" and decal separation, etc. Anybody think this would be a good or not good idea - lend your opinion... - JY

Re: Latest FM acquisition

(Nice snags AA!)

Pics of my latest, with one more to come... (Let's play "spot the FM QA gaff" with the B-25 and He-111... anyone?)

This last one may be my favorite FM Phantom so far -- all pad-printed, and it's an original CDC release -- go figure! (My original release Omega is all stickers... and my FM release RAF Firebirds is all stickers).

No swazi on that Heinkel! I am missing the gaff on the B-25.

Now you knew the swazi from the other thread ... but you would have caught it for sure: yes that is correct. The B-25 is harder to see due to the angle of the shot, but it's there. (look at the canopy section....)

(And who knows there could be more -- the two I am seeing are just the obvious ones!)

Re: Latest FM acquisition

Just slap a decal on the He 111s rudder and it will look just fine.

hee hee he...

Mmmmmm.... ok you got me. I ain't seein' it. Unless there is a missing or unpainted frame that is partially obsured by glare? Fit looks good. Is that a missing window? Ah... I don't know.

Now some clever soul will point out the obvious and make me look the fool I am...

I've got this B-25 and FM didn't paint the top section (framing) of the canopy. Makes it look weird and was very noticeable right out of the box. Other than that this is my favorite FM B-25 (I have the Apache Princess & Ruptured Duck too). Nice bare metal model!

Yeah, I plan to -- anyone have a good source for a decal sheet, 1:48 and 1:72?

Ding, ding, ding!!!! We have a winner! (Unfortunately, we don't have a prize. )

You know I looked at the model for quite some time thinking there was something off before I finally figured it out. I may try to paint it myself later but I doubt it... other than that issue I agree, it's the nicest FM B-25 I've seen yet in person. The nose looks to be a mix of decals and paint, but it is done really, really well -- just a bit of overlap on the windscreen that I plan to cut off. Everthing else looks to be pad-printed and the bare metal finish is done better than on my B-26 Big Hairy Bird and Dragon and His Tail Lib.

My wife said the B-25 was "ugly" (Well, I have room for one more so maybe I can find a "prettier" one -- model, not wife -- LOL. )
