Pappy,
You have the Gen.Olds F4 & 52nd TFW "Wild Weasel" Phantoms sitting on a Corgi stand...Does it work pretty good ?

Re: Latest FM acquisition

Pappy - OUCH!! What happened to the Omega decal on the left side of the vertical fin of your (B11B459) FG.1 RN Phantom...?? Can it be replaced?? - JY

Yeah, I know... it arrived that way The whole model has sticker decals, no tampo anywhere (does this livery exist with all tampo graphics, do you know?). The big decals on the stab look like they came off due to friction in the shipping container during transit. I didn't pay all that much for it, and I worked out a fair refund with the original seller. I'm going to get a set of decals and replace the markings on the fin at least. I'm thinking of taking them all off and doing a complete overhaul. However, I've never done anything like that and havent' messed with water-slide decals since I was 12 Unfortunately the only decals sets I've found so far are in the U.K. See my thread in the repair section.

Good eye, JP -- you know how I like to experiment with my stands...

I think the Corgi stands work great with the FM models -- I have one on a corgi 1:32 Hurricane stand (which looks pretty similar to the stand HM is making for the SBD, I think), which works the best... and the other is on a Liberator stand. Since these have the rubber grommets on the tips they do "grab" the models well so they don't slide, even if the stand head tilts due to the model weight, which will happen if you don't get 'em balanced correctly. I've had 'em on the stands for weeks, if not months, with no issues.

I've also got my 1:48 FM Lib on a Corgi Lib stand right now, too, and it's workign well -- gives it a nice "take-off" angle and it looks cool on the shelf -- like it's about to fly across the room (If I can I'll post a pic of that later)

An earthquate could ruin my day around here with these experiments, but outside of that (knock on wood) I think they are fine.

Re: Latest FM acquisition

Cool idea you came up with on the stands...Very true a Earthquake will ruin your day...Gotta be carefull ... your in the area you know..
I have been thinking of getting a Sundowner too but i just don't have anymore room to add another 1:48 Phantom unless i trade off my Vx-4
Then it make room for the Sundowner.

Yeah, I know -- I went to Pt. Reyes last weekend and went on the "earthquake walk" which follows the main fault and you can still see damage from the big 1909 quake -- fences separated by 10-12 feet, etc. I live in Petaluma, which is the only major town in the bay area to NOT be affected much by that quake... so I'm hoping that trend continues

I should probalby put putty under all my models at least -- my main cabinet is at least secured to the wall -- and I should probably take my He-111s off the stands on the top shelf, as if those fell off it would start quite a domino effect through four glass shelves.

Oh well, I'll just wait until after "the Big One" hits then I'll take the planes out.

Or you could do like me and keep them in the boxes. The foam really protects the planes well! Seriously, I hate you guys for having such nice displays (and being able to display your models period)! Everytime I clean the room for display, my wife puts boxes in there b/c hey, wow, there's room to store stuff in the junk room! I think she does it on purpose to keep me from buying and displaying more planes!

Looking forward to annoying the 'former' Florida Diecast Forum members!!

Re: Latest FM acquisition

I just picked this up on ebay for 29.00 not bad for a 1:48 F-15 but man i didn't know it be that big.
Here is a picture of it next to my HM Buff....I have got to find a place for this thing it's much bigger then my Phantoms.

Re: Latest FM acquisition

Cool Theodore -- how 'bout some pics of that Spit? I didn't know they put out a clipped wing Spit...

Aikens has some photos of the clipped wing Spit. Looks like they put out two maybe three different clipped wing models. Not sure about the third one in that it shows drawing as clipped wing, but picture does not show the whole model to include wing tips. The two that look for sure to be clipped winged are sold out, but the third is still avialable.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.
