One-of-a-kind FGR Mk.2 Phantom Royal Air Force

Last edited by Mesa : 04-11-2008 at 07:17 PM. Reason: typo
Greetings,

I have one of my Franklin Mint repaints to show, but I want some advice for how best to upload the pictures. In the meantime, I'll give it a try on my own.

The plane you will see shortly is a British version of the F-4J, known as the FGR Mk.1 as used by the Royal Navy. The decals and some of the historically accurate parts I added (e.g., fuel tanks) came from the out of production Hasegawa plastic kit.

The plane I repainted has been weathered to reflect sun effects as well as soot, exhaust, etc. The hardest part of the whole thing was hand-painting the inside of the air intakes. The finish on the plane is protected by five coats of clear varnish, hence is arguably more durable that a new FM out of the box. Also, the decals won't peel under normal conditions because of how well they have been sealed.

You can use the forums own image hosting for your pictures.
Just click the Image Hosting button and click upload image.
Make sure you use the {BB Code IMG } when you post your pics.
all you need to do is drag and post it on the thread.

Attached are some of the pictures of the ROYAL NAVY plane scheme I just finished. I listed the thread tag incorrectly as ROYAL AIR FORCE. I'm working on so many things it's easy to get confused.

I think I got the hand of this . . . barely. I had to upload directly from my computer because I can't seem to manage the ones I uploaded through the forum drop-down menu.

A sixth picture. I also used a full decal stencil set, something FM rarely does. For anyone interested in "adopting" this plane, send me a PM.
