Opinions: FM He-111 BOB

Can I get the lowdown on this model from anyone that owns it -- good, bad, ugly please? I'm considering this one, or the new torpedo version -- but can get this one for significantly less, and only have room for one.

I had it, Pappy, but sold it. However, I didn't sell it because I didn't like it, or because it wasn't a terrific model; I sold it because of space/size issues, and I decided not to expand my collection into multi-engine bombers... at least not yet.

The model is beautiful... all pad printed markings, nice paint job, and relatively nice detail. No visible screw heads , tail swazi is pad printed. Canopy removes to reveal cockpit which is, again, relatively nicely detailed. Be careful with the guns, antannae and pitot tubes as they will snap easily. You probably already guessed it is HEAVY. I have read some reports that perhaps the markings are a bit off... but I cannot comment here with any degree of authority. Mark posted pics of this one some time back... you may want to check out that thread as the pics were, of course, excellent. Where is Mark? Man I miss his pics.

I remember your horror story with the version with the huge crosses on the wings... so if you approve of this one, then it must be good! I may be able to get it for about $50, delivered... which seems too good to pass up.

Hey Pappy...personally I like the He-111's and my choice would be the Torperdo Bomber but I think either one would be a nice addition to your collection.... Good luck.

Yeah, I think the Torpedo version looks "cooler" but this BOB version would be the more "iconic" choice, considering I will have space for only one -- and the torpedo version will cost me at least $40 more.

Well... you have those big multi engined 1:48 bombers in your collection. I agree... too good to pass up, I would snatch it. I paid much more than $50.00 and I sold if for much more than $50.00.

you can't beat $50 Pappy, that's a great deal! Nice score....

Only 50$ and you still ask?
In real money this would be only 32Euros, so I would not hesitate

I know, but I've kinda blown through my budget lately, ya know, so I'm trying to be more prudent/judicious... emphasis on trying.

I know, my budget is also a little bit strained. But there are so many great models.
I would prefer the new He111, the one with the Torpedos.I like the yellow engine cowlings.

Unfortunately, I canīt get along with the way FM painted the Verbandskennzeichen. The letters seem to be to small/thin
