Re: Opinions: FM He-111 BOB

I know, but I've kinda blown through my budget lately, ya know, so I'm trying to be more prudent/judicious... emphasis on trying.

Hah, ain't that a permanent state of affairs?

At least I spend way too much $ on diecast each month.

So you're in good company here Pappy.

Re: Opinions: FM He-111 BOB

I know, my budget is also a little bit strained. But there are so many great models.
I would prefer the new He111, the one with the Torpedos.I like the yellow engine cowlings.

Unfortunately, I canīt get along with the way FM painted the Verbandskennzeichen. The letters seem to be to small/thin

I have the pre-pro of the He 111 Torpedo since the Nurnberg toy fair. I think it is very nice! The only thing missing are the swastikas since it was publically displayed. I will add some of those a some later point... I can't complain about the lettering.

Re: Opinions: FM He-111 BOB

Well, I am going to pull the trigger on the BOB -- to me the historical sig is more important than the cool yellow cowls on the new torp, and the price difference is also compelling. Time now to go cold turkey for a while, if I can -- if you guys don't hear from me in a week or so send the national guard as the Mrs.'s frying pan may finally have connected with my skull

A prudent decision. 50 bucks for a He 111 is next to nothing.

Good luck on laying low and evading that frying pan!

Great price on the model, just remember to duck.

Hey, don't listen to these guys; why not buy both? C'mon, Pappy, you know you want to!!

If you need more space, simply relocate Mrs. Pappy's favorite hummel/figurine/lladro to another shelf!!

Then duck!!

Looking forward to annoying the 'former' Florida Diecast Forum members!!

Re: Opinions: FM He-111 BOB

The BOB He-111 just touched down at Diecast Ace Field

Got to say I think this may be FM's best effort -- and, Elmer, no visible screws -- everything's pre-plugged (except for those nasty screw holes for the packing clamps, I do wish they'd stop doing that..)

Great level of detail in this casting, and the cockpit interior ain't bad for FM either.

All pad-printed markings, too.

The one mystery is that there is no Swazi on the left side of the stab -- this is very strange. Can't figure out how that could have happened at the factory

Guess I'll have to hunt up a decal sheet to fix that but otherwise it's a beaut ($50 shipped, so not going to argue about it).

Thanks to all that recommended it -- and so far, no frying pans swinging my way...

I know! Now why couldn't FM/A have plugged the screw heads for the new Razorback T-Bolt!!??

btw... sorry about the swazi issue, Pappy. Mine had swazis on both sides. But as you earlier and so aptly wrote... FM/A is like a box of chocolates.

Hehe -- well, least it's a gaff I can live with and correct easily enough.... very strange though I don't think I've seen a 100% pad-printed model before with a decal missing, maybe someday it will command a huge price due to the scarcity of the error. LOL. If it works in the coin world... why not ! ( because errors are not rare in the FM world of course )

Pappy, isn't mumbling questions to yourself, and than answering them, a sign of insanity??
