Franklin Mint B-17 Sweet and Lovely

Hello Trex0770,
Looks like you may have a 50 cal. missing on the port side. If it is, it may have fallen into the plane (shake it and you will hear it inside). I've seen this happen before. Hope I am wrong. Kind of tricky getting it back in place. Pancanal

Thanks PC. Yeah it is inside the plane but that was due to my own stupidity. I was screwing around and pushed the .50 in by accident. I'll try to get it out of there later when I put them on display. For now 90% of my planes are boxed up and not yet ready to be displayed.

Hello Trex0770.
I have removed them through the cockpit (canopy removed). Shock it around till it fell out. Pancanal.

Re: Franklin Mint B-17 Sweet and Lovely

Hey trex, thanks for posting those pics!

The size comparision shots are cool to see too, puts into a "realistic" frame of reference. I think I could squeeze one of the forts into the hangar... the gaps/panel grooves don't seem much worse to me than what we get with Corgi -- actually kinda like a Corgi just magnified by the scale jump?

I like the coloring of the 909 in your pics -- looks more like the real deal, which I've seen a few times "live" now, than the Corgi version that looks "factory fresh". Maybe that's the one I hold out for...

The MB on the other hand... that secondary camo color looks a bit wonky to me, always has in the pics I've seen of it. Think I'll hold onto the Corgi version for that one.

Thanks again!

No sweat Pappy! IMHO, the 909 is the nicest Fort from FM (unless you like an all black version in which case the Tondelayo is the way to go). Another "bonus" with the FM Fort is there aren't any exposed screw heads except in the wheel well.

The color on the MB IS off but it doesn't bother me as much as the incorrect nose for an "F" model.

On a side note, if you don't already have one you should consider getting the other 'heavy'....the JU-52. That one is beautiful!

Yeah, I've seen the Ju-52 in person and it looked great -- but I'm just not enough of the fan of the bird to dedicate that much display (and storage) space to it (Same with the Goony bird...)
