| Re: New FM F4F WILCAT GUADACANAL FM is still forgetting to paint that black 'walkway strip' nearby the wing root of the port/starboard area, otherwise it's a nice looking Wildcat scheme. | |||||||||||||

| Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: New FM F4F WILCAT GUADACANAL That is the Atlantic paint scheme so I assume it is a Wildcat flying off the escort carrier USS Guadalcanal rather than a plane that flew off the island of Guadalcanal. | |||||||||||||

| Re: New FM F4F WILCAT GUADACANAL I don't know for sure. General Motors took over production of the Wildcat as Grumman moved its production to the Hellcat, so I would guess GM made all the planes for the new escort carriers. | |||||||||||||

| Re: New FM F4F WILCAT GUADACANAL What a shame that FM hasn't improved this line. This F4F cries out for some basic stenciling as well as the black walk stripes. Even the wing gun openings are simply painted over in the gray/white colors when a simple black dot would have added a small touch of realism. If I bought this model, I would have to buy an appropriate decal sheet for the stencils, paint on the black stripes, and do a reasonable amount of subtle weathering, staining, etc. to make the replica presentable. I'm not sure that it's worth the bother. | |||||||||||||
